spyro_ie
I was trying to install Command and Conquer, the original, but it doesn't seem to work and I have heard a lot of people have trouble installing this game on XP, which I have. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem because I am dieing to play it, haven't played it in five years or more!
Wolf68k
That's because it was made to run on Win95. You can try the compatiblity mode, but don't expect much. I got Red Aleart (the first one) installed on a friends XP system and it works but the audio is crap. WarCraft 1 and 2 wouldn't install at all even using compatibility mode. It might be better to get something like VMware or VirutalPC and find an old copy of Win95/98 and install it in there then install the game in there and play. You might still experince some problems because of the CPU speed. I ran SimCopter originally on a Win98 system with a 133MHz CPU, then went to a 900Mhz CPU still runing Win98 and everything ran faster. Car drove faster, lights blinked so fast some people would have seizures. And this on the system itself, not a virtualpc.
just another thug
Yeah, it's odd to play these games on the new systems. For example, I played Tiburian Sun and the game ran so fast that I didn't have time to click my next purchase before the first one finished. Well, let me install this on my 3.2 Ghz CPU and see what happens (if i t works).
GTA3Freak-2001
I believe there is a patch that enables the game to work on XP, might only work with the Gold Edition which is what I have. I'll try and find a link for it. C&C Patches Edited May 28, 2006 by GTA3Freak-2001
