woozie-moo Posted May 27, 2006 Share Posted May 27, 2006 (edited) Ok so here's the deal: Yesterday I was surfing the net and on a site I was on,it had that toolbar at the top saying 'plesae click here to install activeX control' So I clicked it,as you do and ever since i've been getting many many pop-ups etc the only way I can stop them is to disconnect from the internet. This and many other things are messing up. I checked my program files folder and it had several folders that I hadnt installed,so I think 'well this is probably why all the bad stuffs been happening..'so I try to delete tham and a warning pops up saying 'cannot delete,cant read from file source or disk' Now i'm only 12 so what do I have to do to fix it without having to re-intall windowss etc,please help! Sixdust Posted May 27, 2006 Share Posted May 27, 2006 (edited) Spyware + virus scan Use adaware and spybot to find spyware and delete it, then a virusscan to check for viruses and delete them. Spybot and adaware are free. Its amazing that so many people own computers yet dont know the basics of mainting a healthy pc, I had a friend with over 2000 pieces of spyware and 8 viruses 2 days ago and he didnt even know what spyware was. If you were hacked you would be hijacked or your info would be mined from your pc. Hardly hacking. And age is not important as to your computer knowledge, I can say help im only 35 and get the same results. Rant over.
