Demarest
Your RAM is reporting differently because of your onboard and apparently shared video. Good, but not like it would be if you got a GFX card. Why not post this in the SA forums? Better yet, why not consult the box and/or R*'s webstie to find out the requirements for the game?
Forfit
You pretty much have all you need, what you're missing is the video card, so buy one like a 6600gt is all i can think of under 150, maybe a 6800 (and i don't really know too much about ATI cards so if anyone else suggests those) a x1600pro, 9600, or something? And for about 35-40 dollars you could grab another 512mb ram stick if you have an open ram slot.
Wolf68k
This is more than likely a prebuild system. So the question what is the maker and model number? We can suggest a number of cards to you all day long but it won't do a damn bit of good if you don't have the slot for the cards we mention. Yes you need a new/real video. And you would do better with more RAM, for just GTASA then atleast another stick of 512MB. What games you plan to play beyond that would depends on which games would mean you might need more RAM. .Victom
eMachines T2875 I plan to play Flatout, GTA: SA, GTA: 3, GTA: VC, MXvs. ATV Unleashed, GRAW, Condemend, etc. Got all of those btw.
|Zephyr|
HERES a link to his desktop specs guys. I don't have time to read it at the moment but someone else might and we can figure out what graphics we can sugest to him. EDIT: MAYBE EVEN BETTER? Wolf68k
Ok here's the problem (and my personal view) eMachines are pure crap. I hate Dell and I mean with a passion, and yet I'd rather have a Dell than an eMachine....Id' rather have a Speak&Spell and call it a computer than to own an eMachine even if it was given to me. Their damn web site doesn't tell you anything that you need to know only what they think you need to know. In this case there is no mention at all of the expansion slots. not one word. The most I know is this. There are 4 expansion slot opening on the back of the case, one of those is being used by the dial-up modem. Other than that, not a F'ing word. It's my guess that there is no AGP slot, much less a PCIE slot. If you can open the case and look inside. Look at the where the modem is. Notice the color of it's slot on the mobo. It should be white, or white-ish. Now start looking up and see what other slots are like that. If there is a brown one then you're luck you can get a real video card. If not you're pretty much screwed. While there are some PCI video cards they aren't all that good. You'd be able to play GTASA a lot better than you are now though, that's for sure. The RAM is upgradable to 2GB so you're good there. Just make sure it's PC2700 or DDR333 (same thing really) and you'll be good to go. Suggestion here is to take out the RAM that's in there and buy 2x512MB.
.Victom
There are 3 PCI slots(white) and 1 AGP slot (brown with the slidy thing)
Demarest
So any AGP card should do. I agree that eM's are crap. So while you're in there, be sure to replace the power supply with something quality to help make sure your system overall (as well as your more demanding vidcard) are in better hands. If you have the cash and desire to protect your investment, a UPS would be a good idea too.
.Victom
I already added a new 350W power supply, dvd burner, and thats it. I found a $146.99 XFX 6800XT AGP GFX Card, any good?

Parky.
He's in the US and has a $150 limit. Get around a Gig's worth of RAM, if you can make it with the limit you have with a Graphics card aswell, you might be pushing it.

Parky.
First post I'm probably going to be doing the same as Victom, I have 2 slots available with over a gig of RAM i can put onto the machine I need DDR PC-2700 sticks Budget is negotiable but it's high in range, I'm in the UK, also I want an AGP graphics card aswell, any ideas? Didn't really deserve a new topic so i thought I'd post it here
|Zephyr|
Ah k didn't see that. Ill get back to him in the morning with a decent card (no doubt someone will in the next 8 hours anyways). Whats your budget parky? So you have 2 slots, that will accept 1 GB ram in each slot correct? Give us a budget and we will sort something out, dont just say 'in the high range' or we could soon organise 2GB ram and a 7800AGP card. So yeah, budget. |Zephyr|
Alrighty. @.victom. Could you extend your budget to $220 (just for a while, because remember you can sell the ram that is currently in your computer after you upgrade)? If so, these are probably your best bets: 6800 1 GIG ram The reason I chose the 1GB stick was because it will simply be cheaper than the 2 x 512mb sticks. If you can't extend your budget... ATI 9600XT Now I am not farmiliar with ATI cards so anyone just correct me if anything is wrong there.
Sixdust
Start with a graphics card, the x1600 is around $120 on newegg and it is fairly recent, the card you posted Zephyrl, is over 4 years old. I believe that is the best card that ATI offers for AGp, it was the card I was going to get, before I decided I wanted to upgrade to pci-e. As for the ram, add some more cash for that sweet, sweet ram.
