Mainland Marauder
1) Make sure your system specs are such that you can run an application before shelling out money to purchase it. 2) There's an "Edit" button on the upper right hand corner of your posts. It's your friend. I'm speculating here, but I think your RAM is getting overloaded from attempting to run a game that is beyond its capacity. Remember that your OS is drawing from the same resources, along with your antivirus and anything else you have running in the background. So the game is actually trying to run on less than your 224 MB of RAM. "You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be." So the game is actually trying to run on less than your 224 MB of RAM. ... which means that a good plan would be to end all non-essential processes. Do this via Task Manager and right-clicking unnecessary programs in the system tray (and then clicking close/exit/end/whatnot).
Wolf68k
Do the math people. He has 256MB of RAM installed. The System control panel says he has 224MB of RAM 256 - 224 = 32 Meaning he has 32MB of RAM set aside by the BIOS to use with the on-board video. @GTA_Gangsta' What is the make and model of the computer? Example: HP Pavilion n725 or Dell Dimension 9150 With this "we" can tell what your specs are and find how much RAM you can fit in there and if you can get a good and real video card. the_darkside_986
Would that 224 MB issue explanation explain why my supposedly "512" PC has only 447 MB RAM? Or is one of the pieces of the RAM stick messed up? I'm gonna buy a 1 GB memory sometime soon though. I'd like to play Black and White 2 at a reasonable framerate. As for you wanting to play B&W2, depending on what the rest of your specs are (besides the obvious on-board video) you would do better with 2GB total. Just throw out whatever is in the system arelady and get 2x1GB sticks. That is if you're budget will allow it. Because if your mobo will allow it I would strongly suggest getting a real video card. the_darkside_986
Due to limited budgets and having to buy a DVD drive, I purchased only another 512 MB memory thingy instead of 1 GB. But instead of saying that I have 960 MB of RAM (1024-64 for video card) it says I now have 1024. Wtf? I'm not going to complain about my increase in memory, though. A sales associated at Circuit City (who also tried to sell me the wrong memory, a 184pin instead of 240) told me that if I get a PCI video card it won't take up system memory like the one on my motherboard. B&W2 still runs like crap but it is a graphics card issue. I think it supports stuff like ATI Radeon x300 and above but not my 200 series one. Anyways, after installing the DVD-burner I installed GTA:SA, which I bought from Wal-mart today for $20. It runs really nice at low settings, with a framerate and draw distance much much better than the PS2. Now, I want to do some modding. I want to build my own city and/or put weird objects in the middle of grove street. I'm never going back to console gaming... well I'll try to get a Wii so I can play Super Smash Bros. Brawl but no PS3 or Xbox 360 for me. I had so much fun modding Populous the Beginning levels years ago. I want to have that much fun with GTA:SA. I'm not sure how/where to begin. I know that 2nd edition doesn't already support modding but that is why I need links so I can find where I can mod the 2nd edition. I'd like to put hot coffee back in if possible just for laughs but if it's impossible then that's ok. I never dreamed I could put $500 into a PC (370 for machine + 75 for RAM + 55 for DVD drive) and still be able to run GTA:SA. I guess it's because I waited so long and then technology prices went down a little. I'm worried about how I'm gonna play the next gen games like GTA4 on the PC and how on earth I will upgrade in the future when my motherboard supports only 2.0 GB of RAM and most likely does not support dual-core processors. Words cannot express my enthusiasm about my return to PC gaming. It is something I did way back in the late 90's until my former PC became outdated. Now all I need is hi-speed internet.
