ms.cooldude
Have you got an "S-Video Wire Jack" plugged into the back of your computer?
|Zephyr|
Um nah don't have one of them. I'm going to buy the Leadtek DTV2000 anyway... this does both digital and analog TV so yeah, it's all good.
GTA3Freak-2001
Good to see you got it kinda working, was hesitant to get it with the problems of no sound. @mscooldude - I don't see what that has to do with it, he's got the co-axiel aerial connected to the TV Tuner card on his PC which is what is letting him get the channels. I was under the impession S-Video is only to connect other devices like a VCR/DVR/Camcorder/game console?
Wolf68k
You can use the S-Video on the TV tuner card to connect to/from a TV as well or cable box as well. But yes why the analog isn't working through the RF connection is a bit bizzare. @ms.cooldude What you're showing is the S-Video connection from a graphics card which can only work as an output in most cases. There are graphics cards with VIVO which on the card have a connection that looks like S-Video but that's just for their cable that will have the input and output video cables which could be composite (single video rca style plug) and S-Video or just one and not the other. |Zephyr|
But yes why the analog isn't working through the RF connection is a bit bizzare. I think its because the card is digital only. It will only pick up the digital channels. Nowhere in the manual does it say about analog television. But anyways I have sold mine and bought the next model up ( Leadtek DTV2000 ) which will capture both. @GTA3Freak-2001: I would recommend that you do the same, if you want both analog and digital TV. If you only want digital, I do reccomend the DTV1000 as it was awesome quality and great sound (once i figured out the problem, which you will not have as long as you dont change from sound card to onboard, then install software, then change back. Just saty with the sound card if you have one.)
GTA3Freak-2001
Yeah I'd want both Analog and Digital so I'll defintely look at the DTV2000 but I am curious about what channels are digital having never had any experience with digital TV. Do all normal channels have Digital versions or are they different, I am assuming its the same deal in Adelaide as your location just with slightly different stations. Also about installing it(other then putitng it in a PCI slot etc.) I take it I connect my aerial via co-axiel cable from the wall to the RF port on the Tuner Card. Then I assume there is some sort of connection to my sound card?
|Zephyr|
@GTA3Freak-2001: Not all channels have a digital side to them. Some can be a combination (like 7 and 10) or whatever so yeah. Yes you will be able to plug it into your external antenna coax port. You don't need a connection to the sound card. I Just got my new card, the DTV2000, and I'm having a little bit of a problem. THe digital side of things works great. Picture couldn't be better, sound is awesome, its all good. But when we move onto analog, its a different story. First of all and this is the biggest problem. NO SOUND. It's very weird, the digital channels have sound, analog dont. I dont get it? Any ideas there? The second problem, that isnt a big deal, is the quality of analog TV. Heres a pic The quality isn't THAT bad, but yeah, if I could get sound I would be Every happy. Edit: I have a feeling it has something to do with this setting but I can't change it to anything else... ideas? GTA3Freak-2001
Hmm yeah I mean it could be something to do with you having onboard sound, but that's just a wild guess but I know having had a C-Media onboard card I did get strange problems with other things. Just one thing that confused me on Leadtek's website is this little feature: Provide 2 RF connectors for Digital and Analog TV signal, no need to connect to an external splitter and switching between digital/analog TV signals by hand. Does that mean you need two connections one for Analog and one for Digital or something? Or is that just something else I don't need to worry about? |Zephyr|
I'm using the sound card now. ABout the other thing, I think that one of the aerial inputs is for digital and analog (this is the one I am using) and the other is for analog only. I think its something to do with weather you use aerial or cable.
