>>GTA<<
Hi, i'm new in the forum and i got some problems with the Leon S. Kennedy (Resident Evil 4) skin... I put it in the right folder but when i use it the colors get strange and really different... I think i know what's wrong, but i not sure. The others skins have 256x256 pixels and the background is black. Leon's skin have 700x300 pixels, the background is white and the hands and head are different. The skin come with a file, "player.dff" maybe it help? But where i need to put it? Can somebody help, i really wanna play like Leon! thanks
briceman92
The "player.dff" you speak of is the player model you need to replace0. You need to download IMG Tool to replace the models. HERE Before you replaec any models, open the 'models' folder on your pc. (C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City\models) Right click "gta3.img" and choose copy. Now right click in a blank area of the folder and choose paste. "Copy of gta3.img" will appear. You have just made a backup to reset the models. (Delete "gta3.img" and rename "Copy of gta3.img" to "gta3.img" to reset the models) Now run "IMGTool.exe" (downloaded from link above). Go to File>Open and browse again to the models folder (C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto Vice City\models). Open"gta3.img". Now go to Edit>Find. Type in "player.dff" and click "Find Next". "player.dff" will appear, already highlighted. Go to Commands>Replace and choose the "player.dff" that came with the skin you downloaded. Exit IMGTool, make sure the skin is in the right directory (which it sounds like it was) and start the game. I'm guessing that the player model you downloaded is bigger than the origional, which is why the skin is bigger. Hope this helped, and good luck! ~Briceman
>>GTA<<
Hey man, thanks. I downloaded the program but... I don't know what's happening... When i try to replace player.dff the message "ERROR: file too big to replace player dff" appears... Maybe i'm doing something wrong? ---EDIT--- Man i don't know what the hell is going on... I've tried to change other things like weapons by the same way and when the file isn't too big the message "file access denied" appears... Ben
Make sure the files aren't marked as Read Only (right click on them and untick Read Only then click Apply). Also, if the file is too big to replace, simply delete the one already in your IMG and then add the new one and rebuild afterwards . However, be sure to back-up BOTH your gta3.img and gta3.dir files before doing anything, because if something goes wrong, you're going to have to reinstall. Also, this sort of question belongs in the Modding Section . Good luck anyways .

Demarest
Well it wasn't in the wrong place originally. Skins are well within the game's intended use. It wasn't until you asked how to mod that it became out of place.
