GTA : Counter-Strike

A MP TC SA Modification By The New Red Army

 

WE ARE NOW RUNNING ON SAN ANDREAS MP!

 

(Be warned this modification has gone through a few changes recently, do not be alarmed)

 

GTA Counter-Strike is a total conversion modification for San Andreas, designed to bring the fun and excitement to a very different GTA engine with some very different features and ideas.

 

This mod is designed to work in conjuction with the SA-MP Modification and should therefore be played mainly on LAN or over the internet.

 

When a server is atarted up all kinds of options will be given to the Administartor such as Friendly Fire (ON or OFF), Max Players (1-40) etc etc.

 

All of the menus and text within the game has been edited to suit the game style and some has been removed (Wanted Stars for example). The game will include all eight origional Counter-Strike characters and all 29 origional weapons (ported from CSS). The game will also include custom player models, exclusive to GTA Counter-Strike and heavy weapons such as rocket launchers and miniguns and more melee weapons such as katanas and baseball bats (These extreme weapons will have options to turn off when a server is started).

 

The game will include 6 origional CounterStrike maps (ported from Counter-Strike 1.6), these are....

 

cs_militia

cs_assault

cs_italy

de_dust

de_aztec

de_nuke

 

It will also include around 4 -6 custom maps including.. a racetrack, a marina, and an airport.

 

The game will also include all of the standard features you would expect to find in any CS game, such as time limits, round limits, freeze times, buy menus, team and character menus, chat, kill notifications, a map with radar blips for team mates, hostage rescue, bomb defusal and VIP missions.

 

Another big addition we plan to make is adding vehicles... Suitable vehicles will be added to the origional CS 1.6 maps (There will be an option to turn Vehicles off) such as dirt bikes for de_dust and scooters in cs_italy. There will also be vehicles in the exclusive maps. All vehicles will be custom although work on these will not commence until we are in at least beta stages.

 

Well that is pretty much it...

 

At the moment we are working hard to bring out Alpha 1 although there is still work o be done on it...

We have thought about that but SA doesnt have the crispness of VC, Also there are constant crosshairs in VC and people tell me that VC is more stable under substantial modification.

Looks great. Maybe it would be a better idea to create a direct converter for the maps since the CS format is known and its only Boxes in most cases. So you create sum model named Box.dff, Zylinder.dff, Sphere.dff etc and create a tool which converts you all the stuff to an IPL tounge.gif

 

Are you goin to do major changes to VC-MP code? I would like to see kewl buy features or sthin which shouldnt be hard to integrate. (Maybe a Server based map format for CS maps i mentioned on top? wow.gif - That would be awesome. Maybe Squiddy could help you doing that. He made that object loader for VC-MP once.)

@ Jay-Fox: I dont know about an object loader....although that would make my life alot easier, i may chat to Squiddy bout that, cheerz for the pointer... and yea by the beta releases this MOD will be full to the brim with new code..... and yes the buy menus r gona be f**king sweeet tounge.gif

 

@ Zom-B: These are maps from 1.6, we used "Winbspc" to turn them into .map format and then imported them into 3ds MAX.... we tried doing it with source maps but there actually is no converter in existence to change the decompiled .vmf files into something editable

 

*EDIT - oh yea and we used "vtf2tga" to convert the textures from the .wad files (unpacked with dragon unpacker 5)

No way, i tried Winbsp on dust and it sucked.. it didn't convert a load of stuff and left missing blocks all over the map sad.gif

Btw if anybody is interested and wishes to contribute we are looking for a good modeler to make the SAS, GIGN and other terrorist models.

(Although the terrorist models are pretty much the same so no real effort there... )

Hey..

 

I would take some shots of the weapon models in game and such but that would be rather long wided and tedious so will just have to wait for the alpha...

 

The Vehicles arent really 100% decided at this point although the game will feature Humvees, Jeeps, A Land Rover Defender, Dirtbikes, Peds and probably some civilian 4x4s as well in the origional Counter-Strike maps. The esclusive maps however are will have some more drastic vehicles such as an Apache Longbow, Navy Seal Dingys, Yachts, F1 cars, superbikes and who knows what else....

 

You'll just have to wait for the alpha (soon.....i hope)

Infact the code for the bomb plant/defusal mission script is nearly ready, hopefully it will be ready for the alpha of de_dust

*MAJOR EDIT!

 

I have drawn up a rough layout for one of the exclusive maps, cs_marina, which will feature speedboats, motor powered dinghys, yachts and a helicopter. I hope you can imagine how this will play....

 

(btw i drew it on Macromedia Freehand as i made this at college and i happened to open that program accidentally tounge.gif...... It is abit rough round the edges...but you get the idea...)

@Viper GTS-R: With the weapons yea, 1) it was alot easier than making all the models from scratch and 2) they look soooo nice in VC....some of the best weapons ive ever seen in the game..... The player models however are all custom....the vehicles will be a mix of custom and standard VC vehicles retextured and the maps are imported from 1.6 smile.gif
