"T-Bone Mendez" mission

Recommended Posts

Lord 342

I just cannot seem to get through this mission. I've tried everything; using the motorbike the game sticks me on (I invariably fall off; I've sucked at motorbikes since VC and universally avoid them whenever I can); I've used my spiffy Super-GT car I got from the driving school, and while it can catch the bikes it's not strong enough to make it through the mission. I can hardly keep up with the bastards even in such a car. I've tried other cars as well, the Banshee, the little thing that's supposed to be a Honda CRX, something that looks like a Honda NSX, and even a pickup truck burning nitros oxide, which didn't last long enough even in the largest measure...

Is there some trick to the mission? Anything?

Thanks

This mission is best to use the motorcycle you get. If anything, just ride around in the motorcycle before the mission and try to get the skill up so the chances of you falling off. And if you didn't know, you don't have to attack the biker to get the merchandise, just go up to the side of the enemys motorbike and it should say something were you can just grab it off of the motorbike. When you do that, just get off the bike and kill the man, he will be armed so be prepared to be in a little gun fight. That's all I can give you, hopefully it helps a little.

This is one of my favorite missions. I love driving the bike at high speed through traffic (and pedestrians and light poles.)

You can pick up at least one of the packages (sometimes 2) at the beginning when some of the drivers go past you. Just press the button (L1 on the ps2, I think) quickly when they pass you, and get real close to their bikes. You can use the same trick for getting the other packages. Shooting's not necessary but can help.

For driving the bike through the streets at high speed, either stay in the center of the road, on the middle line as much as possible, between one of the lanes and the curb, or on the sidewalk.

The thing is, you have to expect that the other vehicles at intersections (or at lane changes) are going to turn into your way, so expect it and be ready for it by moving to the side if necessary, or slow down a little to avoid the car situation entirely.

Don't try to zoom right up on the bike at a place where it can make a turn at the last minute, try to get it on a straight, or if it's approaching an intersection, hang back a little bit to see if it turns first.

Motorcycles are great for this mission because they can fit through so many areas that a car can't fit through, so you have so many options available to you on where you can go to keep your speed up. Ie. cutting the corners at intersections, going between the lamp posts and the buildings, between pedestrians, even jumping fences or little barriers if you're good at that.

Finished it. For the next mission to be super-easy, take down the tires on Jizzy's car before you do it. What fun that was!

The bike school opens up at the same time the driving school does, and it enables you to get a big increase in bike skill. If you're asking, how do I get to the bike school at this stage in the game, my response is, just do it. Stand on the top of the stairs at the landing just across the channel from Palomino Creek, and do something that causes the authorities to bring you a large, relatively fast vehicle. Then go to the bike school with it, using the most direct route possible. Finish the bike school with all gold, so that you get the NRG-500, and use it to escape back to the landing. Swim back to Palomino Creek, and run to your safehouse.

If you want to do bike school early, you might consider starting dating Katie in case the cops kill you while you're in forbidden territory...also, it helps to know your way around Venturas because I don't think the bike school icon shows on the map unless that part of the city has been revealed (by your traveling to that area).
