ahh crap sorry about the double post. anyhow i got gmax and kams script to work but gmax won't let me export because it says i have one or more hierarchys selected. one problum THERE ARE NO HIERARCHYS ON THE FRIGGEN' BOAT! WTF! please tell me how to fix this.

Your boat must include a matching hierarchy to the boat you are replacing.

 

I think most boats have like a two-deep grouping of objects in the hierarchy trees that make them coorespond to the commands set for their names. Boats are apparently easiest to start with when you want to author your own custom vehicles. Open an original boat, import your lego boat into the scene with it, and explore the hierarchy charts of both, linking them the same way. Oh, and all the pieces have to have the same names as the original as well.

 

Then you can begin thinking about your export.

 

You have to clean up leocad models of the badunka of polies it creats when brick building. Further editing in another program is also an absolute must for getting lego models into a video game.

 

I thought I saw you mention about a txd?

 

Get "txd workshop" by Delfi. Find it at gtatools.com

 

put all the mtextures into a txd file and assosiate it with the dff in it's corresponding ide statement.

KAM's script expects that you select all objects that you want to export and then hit the export button. However, it also expects that there is one top-level object. That doesn't just go for vehicles but also for other export types. So you got to create a hierarchy with link and unlink in the top toolbar. You can check the hierarchy tree for example by opening track view (see gmax documentation).

PS For easy linking, select link mode in the top toolbar, then press 'h' and then select the name of the parent in the list being displaxed. Don't forget to leave link mode (by choosing select or move or rotate mode) before selecting a new model you want to link.

man o' live what sh*t load of.............sh*t i have to do. anyway someone can help me and do some of this crap for me? mainly the reorintating to fix the weird model "gaps". i think i can get the heiarchy working.

 

P.S what do i use to make my own .col. i imported my boat into vc it was invisible but it worked and it was pretty damn funny because of how small the .col was. when the boat turned tommy went underwater (no health lost).
