gillies
I don't have any ideas that I expect will make any difference but since nobody else has suggested anything so far did you try deleting all the temporary files in your computer, and if you use any CD-ROM emulator programs uninstall them and try the installation again. shotaki
my computer is freshly re formatted so there nothing on there apart from windows and office. so i dont know what the problem might be.
gillies
Usually the files used by an installer program are copied or extracted into temporary files, so if you have had failed installations you could try deleting these files, to get to them click Start, Run, and type %temp% into the box. This very probably won't help but it is something you can try until someone with better help comes online.
jarjar
This might help you: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=223324&hl= It's an old topic i made months ago, no one seams to have been interested in it but it might help you. I sent an e-mail to Rockstar back in when i got SA PC telling them about this problem, because i receive it too. About Five months later i recived a reply. It tells you what to do to get it to install. I decided to give up before i recived the e-mail, and just installed it on my Dads old PC insead. But it you try what they say you shouldn't have any problems. Also downloading the data4.cab file would be illegal, and get you in more trouble than you want. shotaki
illegal, oh well. twas just a thought. thats a lot of steps to follow, and i dont even know what half those things mean, i read it said it was for the data3 error would it be the same for the data4? anyone else know how to help? syrdax
That's mean that the DVD may be scratched or your DVD reader is dirty. It's happened to me in lots of games installations because I had a crappy DVD reader; it won't help you having separated any file out of the original dvd because the installer searchs for it in the dvd itself. One thing you should try is to make a backup copy of the dvd, if you don't have a dvd writer, try in someone else's computer. If that fails, maybe try a cleaning cd for the dvd drive, if that also fails, you may have to buy a new dvd driver.

Ah, i forgot my error was data3. Mine was an audio error, the audio file (data3.cab) wouodn't install. Though them steps would still work, because there just making sure serton software and settings arn't stoping it from successfull installing. But it may be a disc scratch of something also. Well good luck then. I found San Andreas is very weird in the fact it will install on some PC's fine, and others it either won't work at all, or comes up with errors. It installed on my Dads old PC, but like i said it won't install on my Laptop. Laptops seam to be the biggest fellons there. Not many of them seam to install them, and even if you get it installed, there not many that have the speed, graphics or RAM to run it as good as a normal PC. Which is annoying, thats why i have decided to buy a new PC for myself. I mean laptops are good, but there just not up to speed with a normal PC yet. Good luck though Hope everything works out for you.

shotaki
well someone told me to try extracting the cd and then to try install for there, so i did, and now i get this error. CRC error:the file D:\Rockstar games\gta sa\anim\cuts.img doesnt match the file in the setups.cab fil. the medium from which you are running the setup may be corrupt; contact your software vendor. i used ISObuster to extract the files and it came up with a few errors but i cleaned the dvd drive and it worked fine with no problems the second time. now when i try istall this is what i get. whats going on? syrdax
I said it already: try to copy the dvd, watch for no errors (while copying) and try to install from the copy, I had the same problem and that worked for me, you must do a full install, then, when playing, the game will ask for the dvd, so use the original, as it is only requested to check you are not using a copy.
