GrandMaster Smith Posted April 17, 2006 Share Posted April 17, 2006 when i go into C:/programfiles/sanandreas (something like that) and i try to open up files such as models and cars, it tells me that it cant be opened and then it sends me to some online website. So I want a program to open it in to mess around a little. I tried just to open in PhotoShop V7, but that doesnt work. I also have GTA:SA 2.0. if any of you can send any help, do so... thanks. Models can only be opened with tools such as Spark or Img Tool 2.0. Your version of San Andreas can't open any of the model file such as GTA3.img and Player.img. Only versions earlier than 2.0 have the image files that can be edited. However the handling files like Vehicles.ide and Handling.cfg can be opened with wordpad. Just right click and hit open with. When trying to open the Handling.cfg file, it says to pick a certain program to open it or try the interent. Click the program button and select WordPad. Good luck. Edited April 17, 2006 by Bryce. balmung03 Posted April 17, 2006 Share Posted April 17, 2006 changing the vehicle.ide and handling.cfg can affect your gameplay a lot, depending on what you change and how you change it. you can alter the lights configuration (as far as what areas will light up), wheelbase sizes (at least what the game will think is the size), and various things to the cars, such as acceleration, max speed, cornering/handling ability, number of gears, where it can be modded (however, with v2.0 you couldn't really utilize that part very much), etc. and yes, there is a way to change v2.0 to v1.1 or v1.0 (can't remember which). GTA3Freak-2001 posted in another forum a little while ago to someone who had a similar question. the answer can be found here, but since this is breaking Rockstar's modding protection placed on the game, I cannot provide the actual link to what you're looking for.
