paidmonk Posted April 17, 2006 Share Posted April 17, 2006 It was the mid-to-late 90's and there was a British gaming company Rockstar, they produced games and signed on with take 2 and DMA (now R* North), and the 2 decided to create a game based on gangs, kind of like what was going on with Black gang culture in the West Coast at the time, but they created a Mafia theme to downplay the seriousness of the situation. Now, Rockstar being a British company, they wanted to create a tongue-in-cheek game that took a stab at American culture. Just think about it, are these games about criminal life or American life, think about the Radio Stations, fictional companies, crooked cops, greedy politicians, and urban structures in all the games. So, in conclusion, why do so many people want GTA to move to Europe when that wasn't even the original goal of Rockstar? Sure, even I want to see Europe, I hate warm regions, like Vegas, Cali, Miami, which are the life of America. I want to see Rome, Paris, London, Berlin, Moscow...well, virtually of course! I'd really love to see FUTURISTIC ASIA - like Shenmue with cars! And plus, Europe would be a bit boring and simplistic...Few minority ethnic groups, scarce SUV's or Pickup Trucks, guns are ILLEGAL in Europe as well!!!!! Also, we don't know anything about European popular culture so we don't be able to understand any of the tongue-in-cheek humor, so stop it with European requests, it's great, but the entire game will lose it's humor, which only the shady, shallow American culture can provide - you can thank us later! woozie-moo Posted April 17, 2006 Share Posted April 17, 2006 Well you don't know anything about europe then,first of all there are plenty of SUV's and such,guns are not illeagal,there are lots of ethnic minority groups (why do you think the uk has such a problem with imagration?),not all europeans understand all your american tounge in cheek pop-culture refrences either,GTA was set in the UK for one of the first games (GTA London),R* are partly as you say an english developer so they'll probably want to bring the game back to it's roots,have you ever been to london late on a friday night? well I have and it's a lot worse than your 'gangsta' sh*t there are plenty of gangs (yardies who love using uzi's and plenty of others),also how can you make this assumption of an entire continent if you've never even been there? I believe that the whole aim of GTA was to BREAK THE LAW...thus making your "but you can't use guns cuz dey is illegal" arguement null. Criminals kill people, steal, extort...but of course, they don't break the gun laws, cos, y'know, that's bad . Try telling that there is no guns in Europe to the Sicillian Mafia.... Get Connected.
