CLOSED EYES AREA

 

- What is "Closed Eyes Area" ?

 

A mod, particularly a TC, made by a team of 13 french modders, the best modders on the scene there. The name will be explained later.

 

- What's the objective ?

 

The main goals are to fill the first city of the story, to start coding the missions. The first city is biggest than San Fierro, it has docks, an airport, business area, suburbs, and a big industrial part. We already have modelised the second Island, called "Eclipse", and there will be a county and a small town there. A great mountain, with 4 summits are done.

 

 

1.0 History

 

The mod started in the begining of september last year (September 2005). I was alone on the project, and was realising an other "big" mod for a french network that many of you have seen here at GTAForums.com, that mod was "Sanandreas Retextured". After loosing interest on modding SA like this (only changing textures), I started to draw what could be the island of a new project. A this time, I was unable to modelise anything. Never use a 3D plan. After some tries in Gmax, using the displace tool, the island was born.

 

After that hours of work, considering I was a total newbie in 3D, I shown it on the forums, (the pics you can see after). Making the island takes me a lot of time, and if i would redo it today, it would take me 5 hours to complete it.

 

Tanjes, a modder and the leader of the most talented and full website on SA, saw my project and help me to build it. Some weeks of development later, the islande was ingame, the first french project that shown ingame pic of a new Island. French modding community was very very incompetent a year ago. and that was the most ambitious project raised so far there.

 

We continued our work, started raise buildings on the island, called SRTi, and some week later(in december), Tanjes and I founded a new type of forum, GTAForums.fr, directed onto modding scene. That forum would lead the scene of modding by sharing the most complete experience of the french community.

 

We collapsed our mod with another TC project, called French Life. That brings to us some very talented modders like Adrien, a modeler, Acoustik, main coder and developer, s�b, modeler, Myghtytyphoon a texture artist, and other modders.

 

After this fusion, the mod started to create at very high speed, and even incereasing it's quality. Using the best textures for the map, and excellent modelers for the buildings, cars, weaps we are sure to lead the most beautiful TC that exist. Miryad is an excellent project and we all impressed by the amount of work it represent, but it's a sort of past, MI is the largest TC ever, but it's not good graphically, they have a great lack of texture artist and lightning artist. That's were we're doing the difference.

 

Since the fusion, we wrote a scenario, a new main, a developping console made by jlf6, a very talented coder. We left the "lots" system we taken from miryads, to build the city faster.In fact, the lots system is slow, and need to rest on people that ar'nt as determined as you in the base team. I've modeled the half of the city myself since we left that system. Each month, that's a lot of new building ingame,etc.

 

Recently the mod included another talented french modeler, EESA.

 

Today, we got 6 beta and alpha versions at all, the most recent version is the Beta 0.2a with installer. It include the first island, and the city.

1.1 Scenario

 

In french (for people who understand it) :

 

Mission 1 : Introduction.

 

Bruits de moteurs… Les pot vrombissent, l’amiance de ce soir est à la fête, la course va commencer. Elle se prépare, autour de sa caisse, c’est une jeune femme, jolie, qui à quitté sa famille. La course commence, le trajet passe par les immeubles de la banlieue, trajet sinueux, semé d’embouches, travaux. Là, plus loin on apperçoit le sommet du SRTi bluilding, emblème du centre ville. Hop, un passage forcé par une ruelle pour éviter le troupeau de flics qui à repéré la course. (Le joueur au commandes doit arriver à l’arrivée). La poursuite des adversaires et des policiers qui suivent continue, le joueur passe dans les ruelles qui s’entre mêlent, il arrive bientôt à l’entrée du tunnel en direction de la deuxièmme ile : « Eclipse »…

 

Mais arrivé à l’entrée du tunnel, Elle subit revoit un flash de son enfance… (arret sur image sur un parking sombre et sale, dissimulé entre 3 immeubles d’habitation vétustes. Ce sont des immeubles abandonnés depuis 20 ans, l’époque ou son père est mort. Son père avait investit dans l’immobilier et ces immeubles auraient du lui appartenir. (La vue change, on se retrouve devant une des maisons du quartier résidentiel, le Père sort de la maison, suivi de sa fille, il doit aller faire « une course »). Le joueur voit la fille et son père monter dans le véhicule, ensuite, prend le contrôle du véhicule… (le lieu est indiqué sur la carte, comme cela se passe 20 auparavant, pour donner une ambiance spécial, mettre un brouillard très dense et de la pluie si possible)… le joueur arrive sur le parking entre les 3 batiments, laisse sa Fille dans l’auto, sous un vieil arbre. (le joueur perd contrôle, vue cinématique)

 

Il marche quelques dizaines de mètres, une balencoire rouillée se vascille sur le coté, la nuit arrive, les lampadaires s’allument… Alors que le pere avance, trois personnes sortent de l’ombre, et commencent une discussion. Le deal se passe mal (on en reparlera plus tard en détail), au bout de quelques secondes, un plan sur les toits des immeubles, trois snipers sont cachés et attendent le signal du chef (le mauvais). Celui-ci fait un geste en parlant (il lève le doigt vers le ciel), aussitôt, les tirs assourdissants de 3 Awp résonnent entre les murs des immeubles… Des oiseaux s’envolent. (faire un plan au sol ensuite), et le Père tombe, mort.

 

La fille se retourne et aperçoit la scène… Les mauvais s’en vont en limousine…

 

(Fin du flash… Ecran noir ! ) Elle parle de ce qu’elle est devenue ensuite, de l’univers des courses illégales et du tuning dans lequel elle baigne depuis des années. (Fin écran noir)

 

Tout à coup, elle revient dans la course après ce long voyage au fond de ses souvenirs, et perd contrôle du véhicule… elle crève un pneu. Et arrivé dernière à l’arrivée après avoir réussi à semer les flics dans le tunnel sous la mer. Un homme l’attend à l’arrivée. Il l’interpelle et elle s’approche. L’homme commence en lui parlant de son père, des projets qu’il avait pour la Famille (mafia). La fille n’ayant jamais été au courant de cela, l’écoute et ils marchent quelques mètres tout en discutant. L’homme lui donne une adresse, et lui dit :

 

-« Suis les traces de ton père, venge sa mémoire et rend à la famille son passé et ses terres. »

Un file "readme" or "lisezmoi" come with the archive, this is a short tutorial for installing when beginer :

 

- First, launch "MapCleaner.exe"

- Click " Browse for SA Game directory" select the directory " GTA San Andreas " where you want to install CEA then.

- Let the options of Map Cleaner default

- Click " Start " and wait a few minutes.(the program isn't optimized, it take time)

- A window ask a confirmation, " Yes "

- Close the window

- Open " CEA_0.2.exe " and follow the instructions...

6. The mod included, MTA: Revolutions

 

This mod is a part of CEA, but it is developped by myslef, it concist into making maps for MTA death match. I've taken some advance, because as you see, MTA:DM isn't out yet. No problems ! The maps are already on MTA:SA Race 1.1.1, everything is fine.

 

Maps are defined into IDEs of CEA, using a diferent directory. When starting MTA, the server read the .map file, and place the maps in the world, using params like the weather, respawn time, etc.

 

The objectives are to make of GTA:SA a FPS gameplay oriented DeathMatch. The mod will let the players play in CEA itself, like an other gaming mode (a simple Dm into the city.

Just a little note for 0.2 : I made an error in the installer with the Spark script, so the radar doesn't work. If you want to have it, copy all the .txd files from models/radar into your gta3.img. This may be fixed in 0.2a release wink.gif (the 0.2 radar is from 0.1c, so there isn't the freeways and new areas).

 

Also a note for new sounds : CarlJohnson-CJ and I are working on it. The SFX (weapons, cars...) will appear directly in a future release, and the new radios will be available separately when finished.

Well...

Thanks for letting us know. I started wondering where the radar is.

 

The map is looking very nice and detailed (especially textures) but there are some polys missing in some places.

Also there are some pieces of land that are not connected correctly... the unconnected pieces of land creat certain ledges that I enjoy for stunting (wooh the height on motorbike jumps).

 

But in general it looks really nice.

Im glad to hear that there will be some new sounds/radios. What radios will there be (talk/music etc.)? And... will there be any custom vehicles?

Anyways... I wish the best of luck to you guys.

 

Maybe if I have time I will put up some screens of it too.

Hmmm... for the radios there's a lot of styles, each SA radio will be replaced by the same style, so there will be rock, rap, hip-hop, metal... but now with recent songs and new emissions/ads (but in French sorry biggrin.gif). At this time I won't give you the new radios titles and playlists (yes we're like R*, we won't give you informations too early suicidal.gif).

 

For vehicles yes there will be, but they aren't finished, so wait a future release wink.gif

No car paths are implemented for the moment. Tanjes is trying to get it working, but it's quite hard to get something correct with the actual path editor.

I have a good and a bad news.

 

Good : I made a new website, now it is editable by the members of the team and there will be more updates smile.gif a little bug is staying in the news, but it will disappear once we posted more updates. See it here, thanks again to Tanjes for hosting and IPB news script wink.gif

 

Now for the bad news... due to legal issues, we can't diffuse radios until we found a solution suicidal.gif but as we (probably) said, we are concentrating about SFX first, the radios will probably come after a "final" release of the mod.
