Mr.Stevo
Alright I made a setup on newegg and hopefully I'll be getting it sometime soon. Before I buy it, I want to know what do you guys think of the setup and is there any recommendations you would like to say. Here goes the specs of the setup I made. Case COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-WW Black/Silver Aluminum Bezel, SECC Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - $54.99 MoBo ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard - $159.99 GFX BFG Tech BFGR76256GTOCE Geforce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - $212.00 PSU XCLIO XClio 450BL ATX 450W Power Supply - $43.99 CPU AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 1GHz HT Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3200BPBOX - $152.00 RAM CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model VS1GBKIT400 - $72.00 HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 SATA NCQ ST3120827AS 120GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM - $69.99 DVD Drive SAMSUNG 16X DVD±R DVD Burner With 5X DVD-RAM Write and LightScribe Black ATA/ATAPI Model SH-S162L/BEBN - OEM - $59.99 -$10.00 Instant $49.99 Sound Card Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24bit 70SB041000000 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card - $33.00 So yeah, this is my setup. Is there anything I am missing? By the way, I don't understand what unbuffered means for the RAM part, will I get enough cooling with the case, and should I get WinXP Pro or just the home version? Thanks Edited April 17, 2006 by Mr.Stevo
SmellyJelly
It's a subtotal of $847.95 and it's an alright price for me, but since my budget is around $160 I need a little help reducing the price. How is $850 an alright price for you if your budget is around $160? I'm guessing it's a typo, but incase it's not then you'll probably want atleast $500 for a decent gaming PC. Mr.Stevo
Yeah excuse me for saying that, I meant that it is a good price for me. Sorry it was just that it was 2:49AM and I was really tired. Basicly I just want to know what you guys think of my setup and is there any recommendations you would like to say. Going to edit the topic now. Wolf68k
I know a lot of people on there seem to be getting alone great with Corsair Value RAM and I've even suggested it to people here in the past. However after my bad experience with 2 sets of that exact same RAM, I have to say, "NEVER AGAIN!" If you can squeeze it into the budget Kingston HyperX, there are 2 different ones... Refurbished for $79.50 New for $92.99 currently with a $15 mail-in-rebate I know refurbished leaves as bad taste in some people's mouths, but in general it means it was returned then tested to make sure it meets factory specs and if not repaired if possible. New items, not all are tested usually just a select few in a batch run. At any rate these are great sticks will out perform those Corsair sticks. The only catch is that the mobo might not auto detect the correct timing, but that's an easy fix by tweaking the BIOS settings.
Spenc938
I also would suggest crucial ram. Everything else looks great.
Mr.Stevo
Alright Wolf, I replace the RAM with the kingstone ones. Yes, I don't like the refurbished ones but now that you mention that stuff about it...I might get the refurbished but I just picked the new in case it runs out of stock. Also, for some reason my wish list is not coming up in the publics. I set it as shared but it wont work, does it take a while to for it to be viewable by public? Wolf68k
They might still be working on that. They were the last I looked at the WishList system a few weeks ago.
Majestic
You are missing a powersupply. PSU is fine, after some reading i found out its made by FSP Group, also known as Fortron. You can buy a Fortron psu directly - http://www.newegg.com/Product/CustRatingRe...N82E16817104954. Its more expensive but also slightly more powerful. *zeP
I also would suggest crucial ram. Everything else looks great. I use Crucial RAM too and I have never had a problem with it. So I also recommend that^^.
