add car lights

hi all.

i downloaded an audi and it had a neon light around the number plate and a bmw with neon tubes under it. on both cars the neon lights came on with the head lights.

 

what i want to know is how can i add working lights like this to cars? i have replaced all the cars in the game and think it would be so cool if different cars drove around with different color neons under them. i have 3ds max but dont know much about it.

if some one could give me a small tutorial on how i can do this it would be great!

I belive this has be brang up many time before, so a search might be able to help you. As far as i know lights can be added through a 3D program such as 3ds Max or GMax. I can't really help because i couldn't make a model if my live depended on it, but i hope this helps you get an idea of what it would take. I recommend you do a search and take a look at Modeling Tutorials and such. Theres bound to be something in the 2,123,068 posts GTAForums currently has.

its a texture trick, and has nothing to do with the amount of lights on a car. Anyway, have you tried contacting the guy who made the cars and asking him how he did it?

they are probubly done the same way as headlights/taillights.

lol, you think?! . Ofcourse it's the same type of thing. It's a light isn't it?!

 

Anyway, i agree with what DexX said, try contacting the creator of it. Chances are he is registered here somewhere. You just have to look.

hello all. thank you all for your replys. the problem is that the two cars i got dont say who made them? no text file came with then at all and cant remember where i got them from as i check tons of different sites. by going through the tuts i found how to retext weapons and stuff but nothing on lights! so ive been playing with 3dmax and made some neon tubes under a car and that do light up but the tubes have all the break lights head lights and indercaters text on them. so what i need to know now is how to map the light txt to the tube! what i cant work out is how to map them when the lightson txt is not part of the car but a different game txt for all cars. ive been at it for weeks but no luck. i will keep looking and hopfully find it. if any one can tell me where i can get the answer from or tell me them self, ill be a very happy man! thanks alot people for your help. ill keep my fingers crossed.
