Gargamel
I installed the game, everything seemed fine, then I loaded it up and all of the character models are without texture...they're just solid white, well sorta creame colored. Everything else besides that looks fine. I tried re-installing and it didn't work. ALSO...it will not let me patch the game! I have version 1.00 of the second edition dvd and whenever I try to install the patch it just says "Could not find original file, however a file of the same name already exists and will not be overwritten"....something to that effect. My video card is an Abit Radeon x800 256mb I'm using the Catalyst 6.3 drivers ALL other pc games look and work fine except this one..
Gargamel
I'm dying here ...hasn't anyone heard of a problem like this before or know what might be the cause and/or fix? And I just wanna correct myself on something, I decided to play it for about 15 minutes and it doesn't look like the models are just white. They change color depending on what the color of the sky is....so every character has the same texture as the sky. Err if it says Second Edition then you don't have 1.0 you have 2.0 and thus why you can't patch the game as its already supposed to be patched with the 1.01 content. About the actual characters being white or the colour of the sky usually it only happens on Radeon 9200's rather then something like a X800. The usual fix with the 9200 is getting and installing the 4.9 catalyst drivers so you could try that or maybe just downgrading to an earlier driver. Gargamel
I fixed it, I had to turn off TCL (transform clipping and lighting) in my Radeon tweaker..
Shagg E
I have the same problem on my SiS 760. Not every texture is white, but some objects in cutscenes, a good amount of peds, CJ's brother, etc. all have that issue. I'm a n00b at video drivers, most of my knowledge lies in software and such, so if someone could give me a step-by-step in how to turn off TCL in SiS, or whatever equivalent solution, I'd greatly appreciate it. For a start your SiS 760 doesn't even support TCL so you obviously can't turn it off, I'd say your problem is just that your card is no good for gaming. Its onboard meaning it most probably shares memory with your system RAM and just generally lacks the power of dedicated graphics cards.
Shagg E
Thanks, like i said, i know little about graphics cards, so I wouldn't know that. It's more compatible than my gaming rig's Geforce 3, ironically. Unfortunately, my rig doesnt have a DVD drive, so I use this system for GTA: SA. Thanks for the info tho, luckily SA is still quite playable on here.
