Zero's Missions - New Model Army

Hi,

Can anyone offer any advice on how to complete this mission.

I am having great difficulty. Does anyone have a particular strategy?

I keep running out of time just at the last minute.

Any help would be great appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Si.

what i do is to keep the Bandit waiting at the first barrel, and drop bombs on all three tanks, then place the two bridges and remove the barrels Berkeley's Goblin has spread around...

then i head over to the Bandit and remove the barrel, and follow it till the end, removing any further obstructions in the way...i finish normally with 2-3 mins to spare...

you can also request a SnP for this mission, the rules for which are here...i'll also request a move for this topic to Mission Help, where you'd probably get more specific help...

Anurag's strategy is exactly the same as mine.

Except for one thing. I turn my volume to "zero" as the first thing I do.

"Curse you, Berkley! Carl, move that barrel!"

"There's another cursed barrel in the way!"

Mainland Marauder buys a cheat device to use its mission selection codes to move back to "Air Raid," then kills Zero with the minigun

hehe...i normally have the sound off these days, unless i'm trying to listen to something specific...but yes, Zero assumes a Catalina-like (annoying) quality during this mission, which only strengthens my resolve to bid him "good riddance"...

Take your time. Sure you are racing against the clock but you have lots of time.

If you try to finish it in the least ammount of time you'll end up hurtting yourself by putting too much pressure on yourself.

This can be said about a lot of the missions in the GTA series; take your time and don't rush it.

Very true.

I do the sequence as Anurag laid out at a steady pace, no rushing, and the Bandit gets to its destination with a good 1:30-2:00 left on the clock.

In this mission I like to fire at all the planes that are in groups. I ignore all planes flying by themselves. Keep trying and you'll eventually beat this mission.

I believe you're thinking of "Air Raid," the first Zero mission. The one where you're on the rooftop with the minigun, right?

This topic is regarding "New Model Army," the final Zero mission where you're controlling the rather unwieldy RC helicopter with the magnet. colgate.gif

That is a good strategy for "Air Raid," mind you.

Oh Yeah smile.gif Whoops. This mission in my opinion is the hardest in the game. All I can tell you is fly low to the ground and destroy the vehicles quickly. If you don't then they will ride off and you'll have to chase them.

Now I think you're talking about "Supply Lines," the one mission to actually get its own featured walkthrough in the SA section biggrin.gif

It's hard to get Zero's goofy RC missions straight, isn't it?

i think you're referring to supply lines, the second zero mission

@SiH23: if you're having a lot of trouble with this - like i did before i finally beat it - another trick is to take a break between attempts. go whack some peds and cops to blow off steam. it's so much harder to get the hang of this when you're seething with frustration. MM's suggestion of turning the volume down is quite a good one.

one other thing i find helpful if you're worried about time is the following: note the position of the tank that will be the first one to have a clear shot at zero and bomb that one first. i believe it's the middle one. then on the way back to get another bomb, move the first barrel so that zero can get to the point where you need to place a plank to bridge the gap. he won't be able to move while you bomb the next tank, but it gives him a bit of a headstart. then lay down a plank for him after bombing the second tank that has a clear shot on him. can't remember the position. he'll be able to move but shouldn't come in range of the last tank before you have had a chance to bomb it. anyway, letting him move some while you get other stuff done means he'll have a much shorter and quicker trip to the finish line - a big help if you're bombing errands take you a while as you get comfortable with the controls. it certainly helped me to beat this mission the first few times.

that's a good point you make...also, another thing i forgot to mention was that on the way back from dropping a bomb, i always take care to remove a barrel from the chokepoint Berkeley's Goblin creates right after the first bridge...

a thing about the controls...i've always found that holding the tilt forward button, and tapping the increase-altitude button has proved ideal in quickly manoeuvring the Goblin

my first move is taking a bomb and dropping it on berkeley's goblin; wait until it's about to drop a barrel, then go over it and drop the bomb. if you're uncertain whether or not you will kill him, get as close as possible; you have 3 goblins to use, so kamikaze-ing one will leave you with still 2 left, plus no more annoying barrels being dropped the rest of the mission. then make your way back to the base, moving barrels out of the way, use the bombs to destroy the three tigers (tanks), and then bridge the gaps. finally, move all the remaining barrels out of the way (each pass back to the base you should be moving all barrels within a small distance of your return path out of the way) and sit and watch zero slowly but surely maneuver his bandit into berkeley's base and pass the mission.

I only use the bombs to take out the tanks. Then after bridging the gaps in the path over the water, I "escort" the Goblin and move barrels as it approaches them. If Berkley's Bandit drops one in front of the Goblin, you're right there to move it.

Also, when destroying the tanks, make sure to get away from the explosion or you risk destroying your Goblin. If you do, though, don't worry because you're allotted three of them for this mission. Mess up three times though, and you fail.
