They pretty much started the whole american punk rock movement (which has taken a drastic downward spiral since their day). They're good if you like quick rockin' songs with memorable lyrics. This is just widely accepted as they were one of the earliest bands and nowdays the Ramones are widely known, usually for having their songs in commercials.
