vALKYR
Just looking at the specs and details about conroe makes me crap my pants. Intel says that they wanted to reinvent themselves, I guess crushing AMD was first proiority, releasing beta chips to a few lucky people as well. This is too great. for you to compare:955EE @ 300*14, with 78gtx 512m, 3Dmark05_cputest=8197 E6600 @ 266*9, with 6600LE, 3Dmark05_cputest=8320
Cran.
Its because of conroe, that I am not getting an AMD system. I would rather wait for this, and when the conroe is released, there will most likely be a few other great technologies. Indeed, it's keeping me from buying an Opteron at the moment. The Conroe Core Technology is state of the art and you can already have a Conroe based CPU in your computer for 200 US$. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? $200 I am soooo happy right now, forget AMD, I am staying with Intel, and will continue to stay for every build I have/ have made. I have three friends that wanted me to build them a pc with AMD processors, now after telling them the news, they are all waiting for the conroe. The Conroe Procesors, going from 1,8 to 2,66 GHz will cost as much as: Mmmm, E6600 looks about the sweet spot. 4MB (Crazy..) Cache and only 270MHz under the E6700. Intel have gone and done it. I wonder what AMD will bring out.. and by the looks of what we can expect with AM2, not much.. And stfu vAL with your 10k single card! *rins away with 4k score* Meh, it's a laptop... I should get a SLi laptop
commando
Please someone bring me a Conroe and a G80 please. Well if ill buy my system by june ill guess ill just have to do it Conroe ready. D 950 come to papa when they cut on D prices.
vALKYR
I'm buying myself a E6400 I think. Maybe in one year I can still sell my 7900GT for a reasonable amount of money and then a G80 wouldn't harm also
DJDeez
You're making a lot of money, valk, you are definately going to need an E6700.

I should get a SLi laptop My rule of thumb - always buy the slowest, or the second from the slowest of the family since you can always overclock them to same speed as the top cpus, its more satisfying and way cheaper. Think about it - 2.4 northwood, 1.6LV xeon, 2500+ barton, xp1700+ throughbred, A64 3000+ and X2 3800+ are all on the low end, if not the lowest chips of the family. And all were great overclockers And btw, that 10k 3dmark06 score is definately NOT for a single card. Definately SLI score and actually a pretty low score. I recon a guy hit 12K in 3dmark06 with 2x7900GT.
Majestic
lols dubble post. I've modded my 7900GT from 1.2V to 1.55V, which cost me a whooping $9! Increased my clocks to a cool 720mhz - before the mod I maxed out at 555mhz... so theres a 30% increase. 3DMark06 - 6700 marks exactly - and thats with cpu at 2800!. Before, my best was 5834 with cpu at 3027, so quite an improvement. At stock XFX speeds, I get 4928. On stock 7900GT, i dont want to imagine.... so, to sum it up: setting GPU (mhz) MEM (mhz) VGPU CPU (mhz) 3Dmark06 7900GT reference 450 (100%) 1350 (100%) 1.2V n/a low XFX Extreme stock 550 (122%) 1630 (121%) 1.2V 2800 4928 Max @ 1.2V 585 (130%) 1740 (129%) 1.2V 3027 5834 First run @ 1.55V 720 (160%) 1780 (131%) 1.55V 2800 6700
vALKYR
lol this guy claims he's cooling his Conroe CPU plus a T2600 passively. Under 1 hour benchmarks the CPU didn't reach more than 35°C So yeah, 1,18V on your CPU. If you still have power like a FX-60 @ 3-4 Ghz or so, consider selling your fan. Majestic
Did the pencil vmem mod, boosted memory voltage from 2.0 to 2.15V... gave extra 75mhz on the memory, resulting in 720/966... thats DDR1932 if you can count I've seen people run it at >1000mhz tho, so still room for improvement next stop - higher vgpu and vmem.. i'm thinking 1.7ish and 2.2-2.

matthew1g
Holy smoking gun of a bitch, that is one nice score wow.gif You actually game with your setup? Like a benchmark HL2? Please? or even fear. I'm getting a new pc this summer so is AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ (Socket 939) - OEM (CP-152-AM) 2.0ghz any good? also I have a question, which card is best: this ( asus gf 7900gtx512mb) or BFG GeForce 7900 GTX OC 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-017-BG) ? they are the same price but, the asus version has: ASUS Splendid Engine, Gameface, Cyberlink Powerdirector Pro, Mediashow, ASUS DVD, KING KONG, Xpand Rally, Virtua Drive, ASUS/NVIDIA SLI support also would you recommend this mobo? PS: do you believe that this gfx card is 1gb?
vALKYR
Get the BFG. The stuff asus has is all fancy stuff you don't need. The BFG is "OC" so overclocked, thus faster. The X2 3800+ is a good CPU yes... And yes, that card does have 1024 MB. It's more or less 2 7900GTX in one for people who want to run Quad-Sli. And that mobo is , too. Splendid Engine, GameFace (webcam in the game itself or something like that, just slows down everything), Asus DVD which is just PowerDVD and all that stuff, it's all software you never use/need anyway. You buy such a card for performance. The Asus gives you performance, but if you can get an OC'ed Card for the same money, I'd say get the BFG. It's good quality. Majestic
that being said, k|ngp|n scored a massive 16k points in 3dmar05 on a single 7900GTX, so I cant touch. Top score for single 7900GT is 12,925 by phrozin... so room for improvement @vALKYR: yeah, oblivion mostly. Dont play source games at home, but i expect a huge score

vALKYR
Say hello to Majestic on Xtreme3D Anyway, is there a chance that a Dual Channel 1024 MB DDR-400 System with a Intel 550 3,42 GHz plus my 7900GT @520/1500 can reach 9000 3DMark05 points? And how much would I need to overclock for 10000 ?
