Sylvania
Rich, what's with the ref map, or is that a paintjob? The model looks great though, seeing it lowered is gonna make me laugh
Cran.
Damn, that's awesome... do you think when it's finished I could drop & chop it and release? I wan't to make it all black and clean, just drop it straight to the ground and chop the top a little bit. Sure, been getting it in game today: *sex* maybe a release tomorrow Damn, that's looking great! Release soon? That should look great in myriad! _RicH_
hmm it wasnt planned but who knows. a realease today looks unlikely now, having some trouble with 2 things: the wheels have some weird lighting/normals or something the chrome i cant get to look right at all, now its gone all bling bling also it rolls over easier then fat woman down some stairs, but i havent touched the handling file much yet still, i fixed a load of other things, so its getting there
AZSupraT
@Rumpy: Looking lovely. Plan on releasing it for SA when finished?
rumpyxxl
_Rich_, the chrome really looks like crumbled up aluminium foil, hope you get it sorted out soon. Anyways I got a bit more done on the TT. I'm somewhat satisfied with the fornt but I kinda messed up the rear of the car. To embarassed to show it that's why all my wip pictures are 3/4 front shots
[email protected]
@_RicH_: to fix the wierd lookin chrome use the tool GFX Hack. It was made by ashdexx/dexx. LINK And one more thing _RicH_,the Hudson looks a little small to me maybe you could make a screenshot with another random SA car to compare the size. cause size matters... pinky
I think you will find these results of a little experiment quite pleasing. No tricks or fx alterations required, just install the vehicle. As you can see the engines now glow, this does not switch off at daytime either. The parts are counter rotating thanks to the prop nodes to give it a little extra effect. This has the potential to be used for neons or dash lighting. Or generally just lighting something up permanently as it doesnt switch with daytime mode. It can be used on weapons, I previously experimented on it for gun torches but the not switching at daytime kind of blew it out. If this works on clothes, Tron stylee suits are possible as well. I don't know how to use Max yet so you will have to wait.

Diesel
Hmm.. me wonders how you did that. Evidently not by mucking about with the lights texture or it'd switch off in the day. Something using a really amped up refmap, maybe? Fill me in. I've been trying to figure something like this out for ages.

I think it has something to do with the propellor thing (not to sure though) Nah, the prop nodes just rotate the flame textures to give it all some movement. Try this for size folks, it's a GGMM. So if you are interested in the effect you will need to use it, once installed add the new dff to get the flames lit up. The GGMM has the original unlit version so you can compare. remember this plane is still BETA and must not be hosted anywhere other than this very topic. Baring in mind that it will take $1,800 to reach the States, then another $10,000 to bribe some FBI official to get your address, followed by another $200 bus ticket to get to your town, then another $300 for a decent shooter and some good bullets from a nearby gun store and finally another $50 dollars for a taxi up to your door to blow your stupid ass away. I will be very pissed at the point I reach your door, not because of you using my model but because I had to spend $11,350 to teach you a lesson, not too mention the life behind bars just for trying to teach you some respect. Is that a bit much for a Read me? Night time. Daytime. Anyway enjoys. Thanks once again STM.

Cactus
@GTA_ Hacker: Nah no real interior yet, just basic seats as placeholders. but then there isnt much interior to them anyway! @AZsupra: I just outright suck at it, i'm gonna go make a help thread actually... BTW, is that porsche just for rendering or is it for in-game? @simpleyunkillable: Nah i wanna keep the model eported straight from max without having use another program, less chance of messed up normals and stuff. @Rich: Amazing stuff as always! did you ever port your beetle to vice? Lack of updates on the mini at my part, been concentrating on the real deal! So not had much time on the 3d version, tbh i'm stuck on doing textures... but anyways, heres a quicky of the engine! Its hefty at around 1k polys, i might have to re-do alot of it for lower poly count.
pinky
Mini's rock, never heard of the Morris Cooper though, was that some cheap attempt to sell them to more foriegners? and between me and my dad we have had them all and I don't remember that one too well. Better examine it some more. Make sure that sub frame deosn't crab as well. I love teh minnehs. The Nancy version looks nice though, more like the real thing. That poor little Mini has went through a lot judging by the story, I sure hope it has a happy ending. Edited September 9, 2006 by pinky
Cactus
subframe.. crab? sorry, i dont follow! *car geek mode* Yup, morris coopers were produced alongside austin coopers when the coopers were first unleashed. Unfortunatly my mini is neither a morris nor a cooper Just a plain old City E (with the smaller ratio final drive, ideal for motorways, i should hit 70mph at 3.5k rpm!) She's had soooo much bodging too, the previous owner just didnt attack anything, so everything falls off in your hands! Still the only thing holding me back from work right now is learning to weld, once i've nailed that i'll be working on her again. *car geek mode off* I'm now trying to figure out texturing by reverse engineering, importing a .dff and checking out its textures, i'm afraid i'm quite useless at it though! The plane rocks pinky, what does it replace?
pinky
It replaces the Shamal. As for Mini's crabbing, not really driven a fcuked mini then have you. Next time sit behind a duffer and watch it go up the road sideyways, crabbing. This is caused when the rear subframe goes out of alignment. very common for old Minis and Metros. The driver tends not to notice either, blissfully unawares. And yes the Morris Coopers sound to me like a last ditch attempt to milk more money out of the franchise. I take it you ain't from the UK or you would have figured that, tourist always get ripped of over here.
Kodiak31
Update. Bit easier to guess. Still not happy with it, needs a hella lotta smoothing. Wikipedia Mikoyan Project 1.44 (MiG 39)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikoyan_Project_1.
Cactus
Oooh i get you now, just havnt heard it called crabbing before. God knows how bad my subframes are, probly bodged on so i'll have to get precise with checking how straight they are. Found out she has oversills too, god aweful things those are, new sills and floorpan for both sides will be needed. From england btw, i wouldnt have the money to afford minis if i lived in america lol.
pinky
I was lucky enough to own one my own age, 18 at the time. Unfortunately it would be 34 now and probably needing a lot more parts than yours. I could change a cylinder head over in under half an hour, mine had the infamous burn between the centre bores and went through a head gasket every week. The Head bolts(screwed rods) were getting kind of worn out too. It's nice to see an old Mini kicking about now though as they aren't sell outs like the new ones. Would love to see a good one in SA too, keep up the good work matey.
Herc
Mini looks bloody good sofar cactus. speeking of crabbing, I saw a late 80s mazda Rx7 crabing up a street in the city a few days ago, mustve had a masive accident or something in the past lol. Looking awesom rich! i havent even started messing round with chrome yet but from what ive seen its hard to get looking right. @Gt Auron: looks great sofar Im glad your making that and not the mig21 its been on my list of things to model for quite sometime. @pinky i like the glow effect looks great
