infinityxi 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Share Posted March 10, 2006 Hey if you enjoy playing GTA1 and wanted to play it online there is a solution. I'm making a server/client interface that will allow people to meet others and play GTA without having to bother with all the directX ports. This may seem like its a little late in the life of GTA1 but I believe whoever wants to play it will enjoy it, and GTADS isn't exclusively for GTA1. As of the release (targeted for March 15th) anyone with a windows 2000 or XP machine will be able to play 1 on 1 with someone else while only having to open up 1 port. infinityxi 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Author Share Posted March 10, 2006 yeah I know, this project started as something for me and my friends to play GTA1 online because the ports were a pain in the ass to deal with each time etc. GTA1 will be the first of many games to be supported on it in time. If you mean promote it I am affiliated with a gaming network, FastPing.net and I a lot of people I know are interested in it. The client and server is all sorted out. Its been a while because of test machines and all that stuff but the Beta Release 1.1 will have a few extra things to make playing GTA1 online a little easier. Includes: - Checks if Proxy Port is open on startup - Server records ping times - Support for multiple languages (Not 100% set up, Translators?) - Ability to ban users - Ability to bind your proxy host to a certain IP address - Can save account info You can grab the client now off of http://gtads.blogspot.com or wait for the release.
