Letter from Rockstar

Greetings. I keep reading everywhere that Rockstar published a letter/email denying the existance of Bigfoot, etc, in San Andreas. I'm not disputing this, but I'm curious to read the letter myself (just for the hell of it!).

I've Googled my a$$ off looking for the letter, but I can't find it anywhere. Does anybody have a copy, or a link to where I might find it?

In the meantime, I have found this which some of you may find interesting ...

"Dear Consumer,

Thank you for your interest in our technical support, Unfortunately at this time we are unable to release full details about all the hidden surprises Grand Theft Auto San Andreas has to offer, however i can promise you we have hidden a bunch of easter eggs. Be on the lookout, because you are bound to find something lurking on the mountain tops, or swimming on the ocean floor. You might even see some unwelcome bodies hidden in the wheat fields. There are over 30 Easter eggs that are not discussed in the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Official Strategy guide, however we will most likely post them at a later date. Thank you for your E-mail and i hope this helped solve some of your problems

Thank you,

Rob Newkirk"

Cheers peeps!

PS: the reason I'm asking is because the Rockstar letter supposedly mentions "something in the woods" ... I just wanted to read it for myself, to be sure this ain't more of the same old BS you read everywhere!

PPS: I wouldn't put it past Rockstar to encourage all these 'Bigfoot' rumours, etc, as it has certainly helped them to promote the game! Clever marketing in my opinion ...

Don't double post, just edit your first post next time. Search Search and you will find the article that Rockstar said Bigfoot wasn't in the game. It wasn't a letter. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip ... I did try searching but couldn't find it (I was searching for a 'letter' mind you ...).

Wonder whether Rockstar will every publish an official 'Secrets' list for San Andreas? But let's not hold our breath, eh? confused.gif

30 EASTER EGGS! Wow, that's still quite a lot to cover! Bet this means we'll still be fooling around with the game for quite sometime eh?

What about the changing colors of the Camper that are unobtainable? rolleyes.gif

Sorry, just couldn't resist the urge to think about it as a possible easter egg wink.gif

Our GTAforums easter egg list was 70 items initially, now it's over 150 at least...

Sorry Loco, no one else thinks camper colors are a clever intentional easter egg for gamers to unlock and rejoice over.

Aaah, Mr. Mxyzptik, please don't douse yet my excitement on this wink.gif

NO ONE ELSE you think. But what if R* says so? rolleyes.gif

Let's just wait for some more time before we conclude.

If it isn't, well at least I find it a better collection than the ghost cars wink.gif

Cheers for the replies, peeps. I've seen those magazine scans before ... but many thanks!

What I'm specifically looking for is the letter/article from Rockstar that mentions "something in the woods" (just try "san andreas" "something in the woods" in Google and you'll see what I'm on about).

I have tried searching this forum - and though it gets mentioned a lot - I can't seem to find an actual copy of Rockstar's response, mentioning "something in the woods". But then maybe I'm just being a bit sh!t with my searches?!

No big deal anyway wink.gif

OK... here it is on Wikipedia:

"Debunking the myths

Weeks after the myths had begun, and search teams formed, an e-mail message (message currently suspended) was received from "[email protected]" and posted on several fan forums. Many questioned the authenticity of the letter, but upon further inspection, it did indeed seem to be from Rockstar Games.

After the initial letter, it is assumed that the address received many letters from fans, as it soon switched to an automated response system. The first automated return letters had a minor typo in it which led many fans to believe it was not an official Rockstar employee. Shortly after these claims were made the address owner soon issued a new return letter that validated new claims, but denied some of the ones in previous letters. This pattern continued, and some speculate that it is just a plot of Rockstar to create more publicity among the fan community.

The most important claim of the letter was that Bigfoot was false, and is not present in the game. Having been the shining light of the many search teams, many fans were dismayed. However, the letter mentioned that there was something in the woods."

... and there you go. Those last 6 words just hanging there at the end of the sentence with no conclusion ... so IS there "something in the woods", or is it just BS?

And please, don't say "trees" ...

Your post is the first time I've seen a claim about Rockstar saying "something in the woods." And 18 months of searches through the game and game files by thousands of people have turned up nothing.

I see the letter mentioned on Wikipedia, but the external link is broken. There is this claim from the letter from Rockstar though:

The most important claim of the letter was that Bigfoot was false, and is not present in the game. Having been the shining light of the many search teams, many fans were dismayed. However, the letter mentioned that there was something in the woods.

As before our edits, no one has shown any proof of "something in the woods," (i.e. a creature).

In the woods you can find beat up old cars, and I can't think of much else.

Ginja, do you have a scan of the letter, or link pertaining to that letter which was supposedly from R* that we can read on? Is this really a recent one or might've been just recycled from a long time ago. Does anyone think too that R* have already read all the found Easter eggs in all the forums?

Hi Mxyzptlk ... I agree, this does sound like more "bigfoot/piggsy" bullsh!t! That's why I'm interested to read the original letter for myself - after all, maybe even the letter is BS! (which seems quite likely).

Plus ... considering the sheer number of people playing GTA:SA, I don't believe that "something" would remain hidden in the woods for sooo long.

But still, I'm curious wink.gif

PS: for you older gamers out there who played 'Elite' on the BBC Micro/C64... remember all the rumours that used to surround that game, like alien motherships in deep space, etc? Very similar to the whole GTA:SA "bigfoot" saga, and also, very similar games - ie. non-linear, huge area to explore.

Maybe it's just human nature to WANT to believe there are unexplained "things" in the far reahces of such huge games, just as in real life?

There, that's my psychological tuppence-worth. And whatever the 'truth' may be, I guarantee that Rockstar are loving all the hype!

I really don't know how you can still be curious. Its quite funny that I have to post this at least once a month, but here I go again. The game has been out for almost a year, if there was any evidence of Bigfoot, it would have been found. There have been many many people who have scowered the .IPL's, .TXD's and .DFF's of the game. If any Bigfoot or any other unexplained "character" was in the game, its files would be located there and only there. Sorry man but THERE IS NO BIGFOOT. You being curious is like wondering whether or not rain comes from places other than clouds. I'm sorry man but you don't need to be "curious".

Thanks for posting the article Mxy.

Cheers peeps!

If this letter is authentic and recent, then it'd be a curiousity alright. Especially that there's mention on something like 30 more easter eggs undiscovered.

What gives here?

There are references to "the letter" on Google from June 2005 so it's at least that old.

Oh man ... I didn't mean to re-open the can of worms surrounding Big Foot. And as I've mentioned a couple of times here already, I DON'T BELIEVE THERE IS A BIG FOOT IN GTA SAN ANDREAS, or anywhere else for that matter! There, said it. Clear?! wink.gif

I'm just 'curious' about this supposed letter from Rockstar, which mentions:

- something lurking on the mountain tops

- or swimming on the ocean floor

- some unwelcome bodies hidden in the wheat fields

So please, no need to tell me that Big Foot is fake. Just let me know if you have a link to the original source of this supposed letter from Rockstar, so I can read it for myself. If you don't have the link, then don't feel you have to post, no sweat.

And just to say it again ... I don't want to read this letter 'cos I;m about to waste my time searching for these 'secrets'. I'm just interested to read the letter because I'm a nosey [email protected] who likes to get his info from the "horse's mouth", so to speak (ie. from the source).

Anyhow. Thread's dead baby, threads dead ... biggrin.gif

There is no shark in SA. The closest thing is an easily mistakable dolphin. The files that are there are files left over from VC that wer never taken out. If you don't believe me then ask Mxyz. -GR

There's no shark in SA unless you put the VC shark images on a dolphin or whatever.

The only person who proved sharks were real was either owned by Mxyzptlk or pdescobar on the shark mod and how close and exact the pictures were. When I read that part, this went through my mind: OWNED

Good work Fido, you got it ... Glendales, dolphin and body bags. There's probably nothing more to it than that.

No. No. NO! There is no "mystery" island to the north, especially one that allows you to play every game ever made for PS2 - they couldn't fit on the disc, plus the fact that the games boundaries are what you see on the radar; the game just does a never ending loading of the water to make it look like you're flying forever.

Indeed. There is no "mystery island to the north", and I highly doubt Rockstar would even think to input a "games machine" there where you can "play every game made for the PS2."

The only "mystery" island I know of, is the one near to Pier 69, it's a small island with a few trees and bushes and (I think) people camping there, or something like that. It was found on the mission Pier 69, where you have to chase Ryder in the boat.

Dammit! You guys aren't taking this seriously ... ok, then what about the 'Magic Lottery Number Generator' in Las Venturas, that can predict the winning numbers for anywhere in the world - the REAL world, that is! (fact). At this rate, with so many people winning daily, I anticipate the world's economy will collapse in approximately 7 minutes ... better get moving, homies! Word...

It's the machine in the 'hidden' casino. Y'know, the one beneath the secret Thunderbirds skyscraper, that you can only get to by riding the plasma-train from the Orbital Satellite, piloted by Bigfoot. I've seen photos, it's real!

Ok, I'll stop now ... no funny no more rolleyes.gif
