leper73
The Oakland A's take it all this year. As if their rotation wasn't deadly enough, they now have Esteban Loaiza. Off-season acquisitions of Milton Bradley and the Big Hurt. Now we have bats to go with our pitching. Look out this year. darthYENIK
Sorry Leper. The Angels, although they still don't have the big hitter they wanted, still look stronger then ever. Captain Keyes
Frank Thomas is a has-been, but Oakland definitely has much better pitching than anyone else in its division. Plus they now have Huston Street closing from the start of the season, instead of Dotel. Just wondering, on the Angels, who replaced Byrd and Washburn in the rotation? Mainland Marauder
Frank Thomas could still be a serviceable DH or pinch hitter if he gets healthy. I think he'll do more for Oakland, being an AL team, than Jeff Bagwell would do for the Astros. Not that either has much left in them. Runestoner
I think Frank Thomas will do better as a DH. Good signing IMO for Oakland since it was less than $1M i think. That's pretty low-risk. In other news, Bagwell finally acknowledged that he may not play at all this season, and he may be done altogether. He's had a great career in Houston though. The Red Sox landed Hee Seop Choi off waivers...not too bad a waiver acquisition to go with getting Pena. TheSpillCanvas
Bump. Wishful thinking, but I hope MLB and the investigators find something on Barry Bonds. All the past steroid users, good for them, they escaped, but since this is investigating current players, I hope he gets f'd. He does not deserve to break Hank's record. Anyways, pre-season predictions as of today: AL East: New York Yankees Central: Chicago White Sox West: Ownerisadouchebag Angels Wildcard: Cleveland Indians NL East: New York Mets (sorry Braves fans) Central: Chicago Cubs West: Los Angeles Dodgers Wildcard: Atlanta Braves or St Louis Cardinals, it is a toss up. darthYENIK
...West: Ownerisadouchebag Angels... Yeah. Arte Moreno is getting on my nerves (the douche bag owner of the angels he speaks of). I mean he let's go plenty of good players. Bengi Molina (good clinch hitter), Troy Glaus (had a great comeback season last year for the D-backs), Paul Byrd and Jarrod Washburn (two of the Angels best starting pitchers, plus Washburn was a great lefty). And not to mention the whole name thing. He's making us look like idiots. I have a feeling his predecessor (not disney), Gene Autry is looking down and shaking his head. Oh well they're still a good team. AL East: Yankees Central: Indians (I know, I know. Just look at their spring training stats) West: Angels (and hopefully the World Series) Wild card: Black Sox or Rangers (can't decide) NL East: Braves Central: Cubs West: Dodgers (And hopefully they play the Angels in the world series, that would suck for most of the country, but rock for me.) Wild card: Cardinals Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/235894-official-mlb-chat/?do=findComment&comment=3611402 Share on other sites
leper73
Yenik, the Rangers are not taking the wild card over the A's. They won't get higher than 3rd, especially now that Soriano is gone. gta_player5
Could that be a precursor to the type of year he's going to have: If so, he'll do amazing. The Yankee game is on so late here because its being played in Oakland, its on at 10pm and it'll go until at least 1am and I just don't have the engergy to do that I can't believe baseball is back already... -GTAP- Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/235894-official-mlb-chat/?do=findComment&comment=3618798 Share on other sites

gta_player5
Pretty well now we have a consistent lead off hitter followed by the scary lineup top to bottom. Our picthing didn't get much better, but if we continue from where we ended I think we'll be ok, 'cause Chacone did good for us, Aaron Small did great a 10-0 record for us in the regular season. We did add Kyle Farnsworth to the bullpen, and that means a consistent set up man, Gordon scared me when he entered the games last season. He started slipping last year. -GTAP- Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/235894-official-mlb-chat/?do=findComment&comment=3618826 Share on other sites

D Jones
I laughed when some San Diego Padre fan threw a syrenge(sp) at Bonds. I was hoping Bonds would blast a few homers, but that didn't happen. I hope he blows his knees out and is on the shelf this year, and has to retire. What will probably happen is he hits 46 HR, walks 200 more times, and makes an ass of himself on the field, in the clubhouse, with the media, and on his reality TV show. Mainland Marauder
Being without cable and outside of a big-league market sucks. I'm not used to it. Geez, Pettitte got rocked. Not the way to follow up Roy Oswalt/Brad Lidge blanking the Fish. And looks like once again the 'Stros can't hit. But today, I was playing MVP '05 and hit a grand slam with Oswalt. That was sweet.
