Runestoner
Have you seen Barry Bonds dressed like Paula Abdoul? That is funny as hell! Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/235894-official-mlb-chat/#findComment-3551689 Share on other sites
darthYENIK
I heard about that. Barry's usually acting like a prick, this is a change. Man. I just heard about Vladimir Gurrero having three cousins, that were like brothers, die. As of now he's out of the WBC, that sucks because he's the best us angels fans got. Of course my prayers are with him, and his fourth hospitalized cousin. On the bright side. Tim Salmon! He's recovered, and said to be ready for the season to start. He's been out for like 3 seasons, and it's gonna be f*cking nuts to hear that crowd when they announce his name on opening day. I hope I am able to make it there. Captain Keyes
I'm not particularly hyped up about the WBC; I'm not against it or anything but it just seems like a distraction from the upcoming MLB season. Anyone doing fantasy? I joined a Yahoo public league and did the autopick draft without ranking my players and I got stuck with some good infielders and starting pitchers but mediocre outfielders and relievers. Xanarki
I been thinking about a fantasy league. I joined Yahoo's Nascar 1 awhile back. So, basic question...favorite team. Mines the Indians and Pirates. :-/ Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/235894-official-mlb-chat/#findComment-3558035 Share on other sites
darthYENIK
Don't look so down xanarki. The way things are going with the conspiracy to let all the underdog teams win(Angels, Red Sox, White Sox), you got a good chance of seeing one of your favorites win the WS. Xanarki
Considering Pirates suck. Really bad. No chance in that. Indians MIGHT have a chance this year. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/235894-official-mlb-chat/#findComment-3558907 Share on other sites
Captain Keyes
Well at least the Pirates are heading in the right direction in terms of offseason acquisitions although it's too early to say if they'll be contenders in a competitive NL central. But at least you have young players like Zach Duke, Oliver Perez, and Jason Bay who should have successful careers ahead of them. Runestoner
I saw this on ESPNEWS, and i just had tears come to my eyes. Kirby Puckett was one of the classiest acts in the locker room, and dying at age 45, according to ESPN is too early. stone cold steve austin
RIP Kirby Puckett Well my favorite team is the Nationals. They didnt make the playoffs last year, but maybe they can this year, lol Edited March 7, 2006 by stone cold steve austin Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/235894-official-mlb-chat/#findComment-3561914 Share on other sites
Mainland Marauder
Didn't see Puckett was mentioned in here before I made a topic about it. As for favorite teams...maybe the Astros can build on getting to the World Series for the first time. Now that I'm in NC I'm going to miss going to the ballgames. Runestoner
You'll just miss going to MLB games, but we do have some minor league teams here. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/235894-official-mlb-chat/#findComment-3561988 Share on other sites
Mainland Marauder
Yeah, there's the Durham Bulls...they could probably beat their affiliated "major league team" (the Devil Rays). Not the same as getting to watch Roger Clemens, though. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/235894-official-mlb-chat/#findComment-3562052 Share on other sites
Captain Keyes
Yeah, there's the Durham Bulls...they could probably beat their affiliated "major league team" (the Devil Rays). Not the same as getting to watch Roger Clemens, though. I lived in/travelled to North Carolina and I've attended a Bulls game and also a game for the Carolina Mudcats. Those happen to be the only minor league games I've been to. Coincidentally I also moved to NC after living in Houston for a period of time. And even though I was a little kid who barely understood baseball I still became an Astro fan while I lived down there. Mainland Marauder
Cool. Now I know I'm not the only Texan around here. I grew up in and around Houston. I probably saw ~150 Astros games in the Astrodome. Then last year I got to cover them some for the newspaper and met most of the players. That was cool. They were sucking early on in the season but shaped up. Maybe with Preston Wilson in the lineup and Lance Berkman fully recovered the 'Stros will hit the damn baseball again. I've been wanting to see Hurricanes hockey since I got here a couple months ago...might get a chance to do that before the season's over. If not, at least I get to experience a summer without 90+% humidity all the time. darthYENIK
Poor Kirby Puckett. He has had a bad life. The scandal, the whole waking up one morning blind in one eye, and his early death. That must've sucked to wake up one morning, and just be blind in an eye, especially for a ball player. His career was over right then. R.I.P. I don't know about you guys, but I rather enjoy spring training exhibition games. You see rookies, and veterans, and the coaches pull some out some tricks, to mix it up. Plus they use 40 man rosters. Runestoner
I like spring training as well. BTW, in the WBC, Canada beat The United States 8-6 Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/235894-official-mlb-chat/#findComment-3565651 Share on other sites
Mainland Marauder
Interesting... Especially not being in a major league market anymore and not having cable, I don't think I'll get to see much spring training action on TV. But I do like watching when I can, especially the prospects. Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/235894-official-mlb-chat/#findComment-3565698 Share on other sites

Striker*
That's not a stupid question. I'm a baseball fan but I'm not quite sure when Opening Day is either. As for the WBC, it's no use watching it. Dominican Republic or Venezuela is gonna tattoo their names on everybody's ass. My favorite team is the Red Sox(And for the record, I liked them way before they won a World Series). I can't be much of a homer because my hometown team is the Marlins. They suck, aside from Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/235894-official-mlb-chat/#findComment-3568535 Share on other sites

gta_player5
Bronson Arroyo has been traded to the Cinncinatti Reds for out fielder Willie Mo Pena. The Reds needed the pitching because they ranked 3rd to last in the league for team era I believe -GTAP- Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/235894-official-mlb-chat/#findComment-3588564 Share on other sites
