Demarest
First things first: I have a video issue. My card and drivers are leaps and bounds ahead of what the game was made for way back when. When the game starts, everything's fine. Up until I go to enter the menu. It flat out crashes. On Eidos's site, it says that it's made to work with DirectX 5 and anything afterwards is Microsoft's to troubleshoot I have a second PC just for such antiquated needs. Do I need to play it on there or is it something different entirely? Also, does anybody know if there have been trainers and/or mods made for it? I recently sold my PSX version, and it was fun to use the Game Shark to hack things up. Just curious because every time I search, it just takes me to either generic Final Fantasy sites or FF VIII pages. Thanks.
Tornado Rex
f*cking crazy. I just re-installed and started playing this today (err I guess yesterday now). Weird. Anyway, I was having issues with mine as well. Videos weren't playing for me though (couldn't make it to any of the menus). Anyway what I did to fix mine was install the "Movie Player" or whatever they call it on the Install Disc autorun menu. See if that works for you. ~ Proud Supporter of the Child's Play Charity! | GTANET + Child's Play ~
Vin.
How weird, I bought this yesterday, for PC, haven't installed it yet though. I'll tell you what happens when I install mine. Probably middle of the week tomorrow.
pizza guy
As may I. I have a copy of this at home myself, I know when it was on my friends computer when he had it here at the house that it ran perfectly fine. That was on windows XP and probably DX8. Demarest
Finally had a chance to install in on my lesser PC. Funny thing being that I only have it together to handle older games. Tomb Raider for example needs an ISA sound card. Magic: Shandalar has no frame limiter and therefore needs a puny vidcard to be playable. Etc. Now I guess I can add FFVII to the pile. It installed fine and played fine. The 2D's though were "off". Including scrambled if it was background images. Downloaded the "latest" drivers for the vidcard (ATI Rage Pro) and all is well. Not sure if it was the fact that I allowed it to install DX5 or the fact that it's running 98. Either way, all systems are go
