Resend Validation E-mail
I know these topics must get extremely old Intel Pentium 4, 2.20 GHz Windows XP 512 MB RAM Powercolor Radeon 9250 256 MB 16x DVD ROM So.. what do you think?
GTA3Freak-2001
It meets the requirements so it will run, however you'd be looking at medium/low settings to get smooth gameplay because of the graphics card.
Resend Validation E-mail
Ok, thanks. Could you tell me what options there are for SA, and which ones im gonna need to turn down maybe? Oh btw, I can run Vice City at 1024x768 and full settings with minimal lag. So I figure if my PC can do that it should be able to run SA, right? nada
Go to www.srtest.com, and choose the option for SA. It will tell you if you meet the minimum and suggested specs, and show you where you're deficient if you don't. As for playing VC at full settings, SA is a different game, and won't necessarily run the same. You'd think they would....
Resend Validation E-mail
Ok well I went to srtest.com, tested san an. I passed the minimum requirements, but didn't pass the recommended, all because of this: Vertex Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0 , You have - 1.1 Pixel Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0 , You have - 1.1 ...whatever that means
nada
It means you have version 1.1, and GTA:SA requires a later (read: newer) version. Or was that the recommended page? Try updating your video drivers, and making sure you have DirectX 9.0c, and re-run the test. See if that helps.
Resend Validation E-mail
I have the newest drivers, and DX 9.0c. So I guess there's not much I can do but wait until I get the game, which is either tomorrow or Saturday.
t0nedude
srtest.com is completely craptastic. That's a fact. I wouldn't trust that site to open a tin of beans that I'd already opened, let alone going there to 'test' whether your pc is capable of running a game. Heehee just the thought of doing that makes me chuckle. PS 2.0 recommended for SA? Is it f***. R* recommend PS 1.1 ("Geforce 4 or better."). That's another fact. IRT OP: Your pc should run the game on Medium settings. The difference between Vice and this, is that SA has capability to provide realtime shadows at the higher settings as well as grass and shrubbery, which vice did not. This certainly sucks up more juice than vice. Still, you machine should handle the game reasonably well. Tony.
Resend Validation E-mail
Hehe, yeah I thought srtest was a little..wrong. For one, I tested rainbow six 3, (which I have and runs great at full settings) and on srtest, it said I failed the recommended, when in reality I can run the game silky smooth. And thanks, hopefully when I go up to wal-mart tomorrow they have the damn game... (yes I still havent gotten it yet And, is there like a thing in SA where you can turn settings down? Like I don't care about grass and shubery details... I just want it to run good. And I can also make-do without real time shadows. So hopefully theres a way to disable those things. t0nedude
Yes, there are four main fx detail settings: Low, Medium, High and Very High. I think realtime shadows are disabled on Low and Medium, I think Low uses shadows that are comparable to the PS2 (console not shader!) equivalent (ie. blobs), and shrubbery is also disabled on Low methinks. There are also some advanced options you can switch on or off: Mipmapping, Anti-Aliasing etc. The Draw Distance can also be fine tuned, you should be able to find a happy medium (pun not intended) Tony. Resend Validation E-mail
Ok I have a question. What is mipmapping?
t0nedude
Ok I have a question. What is mipmapping? It is a technique that allows your graphics card to precalculate different sizes of the same texture for a polygon model (and hold them in memory ready for use), so that it is prepared when rendering that polygon at diferent apparent distances (sizes). It can then 'slap' an appropriate precalculated texture on it. It effectively reduces rendering time and greatly reduces texture scaling based errors, when the textures are calculated without mipmapping. Clear as mud? Thought so. Tony. Bwanana
Instead of using the SR test, use the Windows Game Advisor: http://gameadvisor.futuremark.com/gameadvisor/service/ It's much better - has more games too. The SR Test said I couldn't run SA but the WGA said I can. Can you guess what I'm playing just now?!
The Schmoo
I know this has been a week, but my Radeon 9250/128 MB/64bit runs the game adequately...I turn most of the settings up to medium-high but I HAVE to be in 16-bit color mode. Get from 15-30 FPS usually, sometimes drops down too low in the country. However, no matter what I adjust, it doesn't make a difference, so... T Money
You're fine dude. This is my comp and I run at 1280x1024 @32Hz with 25fps (that's the max with Frame Limiter on) : AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (2.1Ghz) Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB Video Card 896MB RAM Mine is older than yours and i play the game with no problems, of course not at the top speed but it's still clear enough.
