arcooke
I'm just curious if you guys are going the extra mile to prevent cheating in SA:MP. I know you're already aware already that there's certain "tools" that can be used to cheat in SA multiplayer mods -- and I'm wondering if there are any plans to somehow block the usage of such programs. And what about validating the users' configuration files and whatnot to make sure they're default and unmodified (like maybe comparing md5 signatures)? What about internal server checks, like if a taxi is driving 600 mph and weighs 400 tons, the server detects it as a cheat? I'll admit every once in a while I like to spawn a car if I get stuck out in the middle of nowhere with no ride.. but when people start becoming invincible and blowing up everything in sight with a minigun with infinite ammo -- thats when it gets bad. (I play rumble religiously.. until SA:MP comes out of course) As always, these cheaters really ruin the gameplay. Your mod is different though -- there's actually "missions".. and cheaters could really screw that up. I know your abilities are somewhat limited due to this being just a mod.. but there must be some sort of way to prevent cheating like this. So what's the plan? I'm just curious. jax
Well firstly it'd be kinda silly us talking about our anti cheating measures / system, in public.. that'd just give hackers something to look for. But i can however mention that our anti cheat will most likely be written into the scripting system, meaning we can issue updated script files to the server owners, which will prevent cheats as they sprout up. Also referring to car spawning, our sync system is designed to only work one way : our way. So entering a car, which is not intentionally created by our system will result in the local player crashing. Basically if you spawn a car and then proceed to get into it, it'll crash your game - only wrecking the experience for one person - yourself. But on the same note, our scripts are designed so that intentionally / theoretically you'll never be too far away from a parked car, so there's no need to have to try and spawn a car. -jax

cdahmedeh
But lets say you are playing in "free-style" mode (where you can do anything you want and people won't care), you will be able to spawn vehicles and weapons like grand theft auto tournament ? Statico
Due to the nature of the way the car spawning thing works, an anti-cheat server wouldn't fix crashes upon entering spawned vehicles.
Doe-Boy
I hope sa:mp does everything they can to stop cheating I mean cheating the main reason gtaT and rumble aint **** but a place where u can spawn a hydra Edited March 1, 2006 by Doe-Boy
jacob.
I hope sa:mp does evrything they can to stop cheating I mean cheating the main reason gtaT and rumble aint **** now I think the PAWN scripting system will make up for the previously witnessed (VC-MP) lack of control/modability, so we should theoretically see less cheaters in this mod.. mdm13
there's an old saying that goes like: "there will ALWAYS be cheaters... still I want to encourage you to make some kind of 'anti-cheat protection system'
njr1489
there's an old saying that goes like: "there will ALWAYS be cheaters... still I want to encourage you to make some kind of 'anti-cheat protection system' Yeah, very true. I still wish the team good luck on the anti cheat so it can be good enough so not just any person can go through an anti cheat so easily. As jacob said, more modability/customization = less cheaters. They will be to preoccupied customizing their own scripts as I see it.
Statico
I'm not going to go into detail about this, or mention any other mods (create your own ideas), but the fact that SA:MP allows so much customization and can suit anybody's needs, the number of mods/hacks developed for this will be considerably less.
