Axis.
Im currently on my dad's pc. My computer is Windows XP pro Service Pack 2, AMD64 3500+ 1gb RAM 300GB hd 6600GT Nvidia 128mb. Yesterday it was working perfectly, the last thing i did before i turned off was playing cod2 and yes, i DID switch off properly ie. start>turn off etc. I haven't ran a scan for viruses for quite a while, so it could be a virus doing that. It just gets to the screen on where the loading windows xp thing should come up but nothing comes up, it's just total black and my computer freezes, i left it on for like 15 minutes like that and nothing happend, it's still on pitch black as we speak. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me and get it working because i haven't backed up anything and i really really don't want to have to reformat and lose everything. I need an answer ASAP. EDIT: I tried booting up in safe mode, and if it helps it jams when it says: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\Windows\System32\Config\System Nothing appears afterwards. I tried going to debugging mode and every other option when holding F8, they all froze. Edited February 20, 2006 by Axis.
riccbhard
Does it ever show any screens related to Windows? Or does it stop just after the computer's BIOS screen? This may be caused by a MBR problem. You probably need to fix the Master Boot Record. This Microsoft article tells how http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;314503
