As if you'd tell her that you would be influenced...

"Mum if I play it I'll probably try to steal the car and kill people... can I still have the game?"

On the topic, I'm 26 and no one I know thinks it's strange to play video games. I just got my mother to play Katamari Damacy recently, shes like 52.

I'm 23 years old. A lot of guys looked at me shocked when I tell them I play the GTA games since I am a woman. I just laugh at their expressions.

I can't help it - I like the storylines and the games.

trickster: you gotta tell about the joys of videogames to all those women that tell me they never understood what is so great about gaming... cool.gif

Mxyzptlk: that inspired me to try and get my mom and/or my father to try some games. They are both 55.

but hey... where is all the old farts? colgate.gif Just a few of us thirtysomethings so far. smile.gif :

I've been told so much times I'm a game addict and a nerd.

Since the f*ck when has a 12 year old boy who plays games that considers guns, and Eazy-E ( tounge.gif ) a nerd.

All I practically do is get a lowrider, buy a crazy paintjob, hydraulics, and a bass boost and just hop all day listenin' to Dre, Ice Cube, MC Eiht, Snoop, Eazy-E, Cypress Hill, Kool G Rap & DJ Polo, The Chakacas, Biz Markie and Masta Ace, and freakin' do drive-bys on bus stops.

Man....do I feel old now. I'm 56 and love this game! Started with GTA, then finished Vice City, now I'm about 1/2 done with SA. I'm not in a real big hurry to finish, maybe spend 10 hr a week on the game, still got a job to do. But my controller skills are getting better.

Woop Woop! I'm back guys, the last time I came on the forums was 3 weeks ago, in case you didn't know I just started Year 7 last month and I havn't had a lot of time to come on and post. It's good to see that the forums are running better than ever!

Anyway, as you may have figured out, I'm 12. I live in suburban Melbourne where pretty much everyone plays video games.

Cheers!

Yep, a lot of games have been banned here. GTA3 was banned then re-released edited with less violence and no sexual content. GTAVC was banned then re-release with the same changes. SA was release and was going good until the polititions heard about Hot Coffee, then BANNED! And many other non-gta games have been banned for good, like Manhunt, Postel and others.

If people try to belittle me for playing GTA at my age, I'll just tell them it keeps me from actually killing stupid people in real life...like them smile.gif

HAHAA!

Yes, they should give every inmates in prisons GTA SA plus PS2... would stop them from doing any more crimes after they get out... well maybe they would steal that ps2 and the game after they are released... wink.gif

WOW, I feel really old... I must be the oldest one out here, I'm going to be 39 in April.

I love playing SA, I'm nearing the end of the PC verion, just completed "St. Marks Bistro" and a "Home in the Hills" just last night. Playing with no cheats doing everything legit, did mod the coffee, real car names, chopper, and real speed. I completed Vice and III as well. I get to play a little after the kids are in bed.

I remember LA in the late 80's early 90's I was in college, the place was super violent and always in the news. I bought NWA on cassette tape back when they were newly released and all the crap was going down about the lyrics. Remembering the crimes on the news and now being able to commit them rocks.

GTA helps to relax me after work and the wife & kids. It is a great escape for me, and SA is kick ass regardless of your age.

I think it kinda lowers the hope of the younger youth that play the fine GTA series.. when you have people like Hiliary Clintion or whatever the heck her name is tryi9ng to destroy the self therapy that is Grand Theft Auto. I think they just look at the violence in the games but yet turn their nose at the violence happining in the world at the very moment. They could rather be out there trying to make it less violent that standing around doing nothing and complaing about a game that alot of groups, genders, etc. have fun with and obviously at the same time morally know its wrong to go kill someone with a baseball, shotgun, chainsaw, dildo ( tounge2.gif ), etc. I think this game should pretty much not be under such fire. If they wanna go complain about something go complain about Mario! Isn't he kiling young and defenseless little monsters! lol ok im done well i hope to see another age realated thingy. biggrin.gif

Coffee, politicians aren't really upset or against the sex and violence, they just want to be reelected so they tell ignorant voters what they think they want to hear.

I'm almost 35, I've got a bunch of grey hair already and I game every single day. I've been a computerfreak since I was 13 and it will probably never end untill I leave this crazy world.

The GTA series is the best I played so far. Do whatever you want in a game, a whole 3D world to explore, I've wanted to do that since I owned my very first computer.

Gaming is just entertainment and indeed some release from everyday life, no matter what age you are, we all need entertainment. Who's going to tell me I'm too old for entertainment and am I even going to give a f*ck what they think?

Just turned 36.

Had the privledge of introducing my then 3 y/o to Vice City. He now loves to get into a tank and rip up SA. (He's almost 5 now.)

My other boys play too, and they all understand that GTA isn't real, and you don't do things in RL that you would do in GTA.

I do steer them away from the more sexual parts of the game, tho.

An intelligent answer indeed. Why do I feel like you're not really just in your early 20s dude?

Yes very thought-out answer, i never thought of it that way. Though being living in Australia all it takes is one American Politician or website to say/post something about a game we amazingly let past our "bad content detecters" having "sex, drugs, violent or hidden content" not outlined in the origanal information given by the game developers and it is off the shelves in less then 24 hours. mad.gif

Not long turned 34 and like you probably get that little extra nostalgia buzz when playing, probably because we were out and about during the time the game is set. Not from the USA myself but the music and attitudes were similar.

I loved VC because it was all music I grew up to as a teenager.

I think the to old to play games stigma is a load of crap myself, GTA itself is developed produced by guys in their 30's.

It's really just a new form of entertainment and will hopefully one day become as acceptable as sitting at home watching a DVD. It's also more involving so I personally see it as a less lazy option.

Gotta go empty my colostomy bag now young uns'

Video games are still relatively young, and the kids from the video game boom of NES are going up with the industry. So as time progresses, gamers ages' will broaden as the original gamers keep playing and new young gamers get into it as well.

When the gen-xers are 60 and 70 they'll still enjoy video games, along with their grandchildren; and it won't be strange for adults to game anymore. tounge.gif

I look at it this way. When I was growing up in the 80's, (and had an Atari 2600), my parents played games all the time. Monopoly, Life, Backgammon, Trivial Pursuit, Cribbage, that kind of thing. My dad is in his 60s, and plays chess a lot. Both on the computer and face to face. I see the PS/2, Nintendo and Xbox's as my generation's board games that my parents played. It's just a different medium.

I used to feel a little guilty (but not much) for playing video games. But like others here, I grew up on them. I can't tell you how many hundreds of dollars I spent in arcades growing up. I've got a PS/2, Game Cube, Xbox and PC at home for games. And we still play board & card games too.
