Changin car names in GTA III

Hi.

I used to mod the game when I played long time back, I did so with Vice City too and I remember that in VC is bit easier.

Anyway, looking around for some car mods, I found lots of them, but I never could make any of them work, however, this is not the problem now; what I want is to change car names for the real ones (at least those that look similar to real life), so I found the gtx text editor and used it:

There is a picture of what I wanted, changed the sentinel to BMW M5 but ingame, no change, so I opened again the file (is unmarked read-only) and as you can see the file has its name changed, so I searched for more entries of car names and found some more, this time it hasn't the prefix or whatever name is (under name) like SENTINL but a number, so I changed anyway the String name but it won't change the name in game.

Yes, I opened the english text, the one that I use in the game, so, what I'm doing wrong?

Searched for help on tutorial sections and I did what they say but as you can see, no deal.

Yes, I did; the picture is what I see when I open the file (after edited, played the game, opened again) so for some reason, is obvious that I'm doing something wrong...

There are other gxt editors for GTA3 around the net, search google and try a different one, see if it works.

I did that too, used 3 of them, same result always; the weird thing is that whenever I opened the english. file, when I watch the name is changed, so, if you see the picture, is that the way to do it?

 

Ok, I got it done; used another editor, and this time I edited the american file too, not just the english file. Somehow it works now.

 

Any ideas of what real car names I should use? For example, the Sentinel looks like a BMW M5; the Patriot like a Hummer, etc., any ideas?

Some may be in debate, but it at least gives you a reasonable idea, if you use the Search function with the terms +real +car +names or similar it should provide you with further useful threads.

Oops, just realised the first link is aimed at SA cars, either way the search function should find you a similar list for LC vehicles, sorry my bad.
