Irritating desktop resize bug!

Hey guys,

 

Game works fine for me mostly*, but there's a very irritating issue. When I close it down, it often has changed my desktop in Win2000 to a 800x600 resolution! And I use 1280x1024, normally. May not sound like much of a problem, but I use a central photo on my desktop, so all my icons are arranged around it - and suddenly having a smaller desktop screws up that arrangement totally. Any ideas how to avoid this bug?

 

I got an unpatched GTA, and running on varying resolutions ingame has not seemed to help. The bug also does not happen all the time when I leave.

 

I am using a Radeon 9800 Pro (128 MB), 1 Gig RAM, 2 Ghz 64bit processor.

*Except for the screen going blank during some chase scense maybe once an hour, then coming back. Strange but unless you crash meanwhile, not problematic. Anyone point me in the right direction on that one too?
