Hunter¥
Well, that's the informed word as BF2: Modern Combat's senior producer drops cryptic hints about the next Battlefield game EA's and Digital Illusions' next instalment in the Battlefield series looks like it'll be set in the future. Hints about a new Battlefield sequel have been dropped by Dan Blackstone, senior producer on console game Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. In a recent interview with website Shacknews, Blackstone promised that "something very big" is shortly to be announced in regard to the series and went on to offer a cryptic clue about what's to be unveiled. "One other interviewer asked this [as in, what's next for the Battlefield series] and I gave him a hint, so it's only fair that I do the same for you: 3213/3X2. Or said another way: S.R. 4588164," Blackstone said. Subsequent to the appearance of this cryptic clue, a couple of maths geniuses have wrestled with the numbers to reveal that '3213/3X2' works out as '2142' and that 'S.R. 4588164' (S.R. standing for 'square root') also works out as '2142'. It's virtually concrete information that EA and Digital Illusions are planning Battlefield 2142 - but of course we'll have to wait for an official word. Source. Well... umm... It makes sense... Once you figure out the hints it's pretty undeniable. I'm not totally against the idea. I kinda like it actually. I'd rather see BF in the future than in like the 1400s or some crap. Have faith. Digital Illusions won't release a subpar Battlefield.
anuj
Hopefully by 2142 they'll have ironed out the bugs in BF 1.2.
Tom Hagan
Since it is from the SP of Modern Combat, does that mean that it is going on consoles? Sorry if I misunderstood it, I'm just not sure.
Hunter¥
Since it is from the SP of Modern Combat, does that mean that it is going on consoles? Sorry if I misunderstood it, I'm just not sure. Don't know what SP means, but no one really knows if it's going to be on the consoles. I know it's rumored to be on the PS3 though. And PC is a given. darthYENIK
That would be awesome. I look forward to flying a rocketship around the battle of the sea of tranquility on the moon. I just hope they don't go insanely unrealistic. Not that any BF game has been the beacon of realistic combat.

Platinum.
I'm not liking this, I don't want to be flying around in some spaceship or having a gun that shoots out a green lazer. No disrespect to the franchise, but I don't want it to be like Halo.
DaRotor
I don't know if this is reliable or not but watch this this.
Waddy
I don't know if this is reliable or not but watch this this. WOW! To be honest, what else could it have been? The BF2 we play now is modern, so I guess its the next step, they have nowhere else to go, So robots and machines it is, looks cool, I can see Daz going ape sh*t in a 30foot high robot with missiles. Cran.
I'd think 2042 would be better, because when you set a game in 2142, it just gets over the top.
