~Neon~
I have just got a new MP3 player and when I connect it it does the normal installing process and then says its installed and its ready to use. When I go into My Computer, it dont show up. It says its there in the device manager. It also works a treat on my old system, so its not the mp3 player. Anybody have any idea whats up with it? EDIT: Just incase, im using XP Pro with SP2 installed and have all updates installed. EDIT2: I just found out that my PSP is now doing the same thing. When I plug it in, it says its new hardware and installs it, yet it has the same problem, it wont show in My Computer. ~Neon~
Sorry for the double post, but this is realy doing my head in now. If anybody has any thoughts, please post. I read some where that using a PCI USB card will work, so I brought one. No luck. My devices still keep doing the same thing, they install then say they are working and nothing come up in my computer. They also seem to show up as a new device in each port, which isnt normal. Anybody got any ideas?
Opius
Are you an admin on your machine? Try checking through the Disk Manager. Go Start-Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Computer Management-Disk Management and see if it shows up there. If they do, can you access them by typing their drive letter directly into Explorer's address bar?
~Neon~
Thanks for that, its got me a little further. They show up yet they have no letter asigned to them. So I assigned a letter to it, in this case E. It still dont show up in My Computer and if I type E:\ it says it dont exist. However, I can access the files by right clicking in disk management and clicking Open or Explore. When I choose Explore though, it shows me the contents of the MP3 player for a few seconds before refreshing to My Computer. Strange. So, this at leaste lets me add MP3s using this system, but I would like to be able to get all my devices working in My Computer. Any thoughts?
