GTA For PSP
I Installed firmware 2.00 on my psp, so I could play GTA LCS. I recently discovered that I could run Emulaters on the PSP, but only with firmware 1.50 or less. Is there anyway to downgrade the psp's firmware. If not is it psp to reset the PSP's flash memory? (do not respond unless you understand what i am saying)
Cubanwhip
No. You can not downgrade your PSP's software. Once you upgrade, there is no way in turning back. The only way to get version 1.00 back is to return your PSP for a brand new one. Otherwise, you are stuck with version 2.00.
GTA For PSP
When I upgraded to 2.00 I noticed I had to plug it into the charger. This leads me to believe that if the baterry was to be removed while upgrading to 2.60 the flash memory would be deleted (such as when you turn off a PS2 while it is saving to the memory card). Would this "Brick" My PSP.

GTA3Freak-2001
Most emulators work on 2.0 firmware, also you can downgrade to 1.5(dunno abut 1.0 which is basically the same) which is what you need to have full homebrew options.

With version 2.0 it is possible to use a downgrader to fool the system software and then install 1.5 or one of the 1.5 variants onto the PSP. The only risk is if you get a botched downgrader/firmware and it bricks your PSP. If you get it off a respected PSP hacks site you'll be fine. Jay™
Theres no need to go as low as 1.00 Downgrade to 1.50 for all the homebrew. But you can't play GTA:LCS on 1.50 yet, you have to upgrade. But you can still get some homebrew on 2.00 Personally i don't think much of it, rubbish games, pointless, and risky.
JasonB
People who say homebrew is pointless is ignorant towards the homebrew scene. Homebrew can be used for emulators, games, applications and other things which vastly improve the usefullness of the system. I can play Doom, Quake, Quake II, SNES games, NES games, GB games, use it as a remote control and so much more because of homebrew. And it's hardly risky. GTA3Freak-2001
I hardly call the psop doubling as several handheld, and console based game systems and PC classic machine pointless or not worth it. I doubt I would of bought a PSP if it didn't have these abilities but I guess its your opinion.
kingvercetti
As long as you don't go above fw2.00, you can use an older UMD to downgrade back to 1.50. Make sure it isn't 1.51 or 1.52 though, they don't run homebrew. But using a UMD won't brick your PSP, so you're better off like that. Be aware that once you go above fw2.00, you can't downgrade back.
GTA For PSP
People who don't like Emulators/Homebrew should try it. How else could I play FFVI or Chrono trigger anytime I wanted too. Plus, when you download Homebrew games Homebrew games off the internet you are supporting and giving recognition to people who took Hours maybe weeks to design them. and since Sega only made on one handheld, I can't play any genesis games on the go either. Therefore Homebrew is AWESOME!!!

Acoustik
... One man ( a french ) succed to run GTA LCS on as Firmware 1.5 ... His Technics ... Yoshihiro finally chose to share his method on how to create a loader to run gta:lcs on 1.50 psps, here it is: decrypt all your ~psp and rebuild your iso download the pspsdk and build your ~PSP decryptor with the 2.0 PRX and ELF support you have all you need on psardumper 2a i not have time for that assuming it will with DEVHOOK 0.22 because dev hook not use the game_pluging.prx for load your iso and iso emulator yes . look when you load your iso from the psp os with umd emulator your psp after the white screen check if your eboot.bin is encrypted and if is not encrypted you get an error 8002048 :=) . now download the pspdev sdk and code your loader ;=) (this is a log from sonyxteam channel) As he said we do not have time for that, so I suggest another dev team work on this, based on yoshihiro's method. The Link$ -> http://www.sonyxteam.com/modules.php?name=...=article&sid=22 Good luck for the which that code the loader... Sorry for my english i'm french !!! We are talking about games that are over 10 years old, games that many of us owned back in the day so its not exactly the way you portray it. This is just emulation, the PC games people have managed to run on the PSP such as Quake2, Doom, etc require you to own the orginal game so there's no real "getting it for free" there. Also the majority of apps made for PSP are made by the community for free so enough with the "its not right" crap. Homebrew doesn't automatically cover illegal iso's of games you know?
