NG66
Hi there, I'm in the beginning of this game. How to earn money in the beginning of the game? apart from completing the missions. especially, where and how can I sell the cars i steal? Do i need to reach the export/import mission first? Thanks in advance, EnGee
Mxyzptlk
Money Guide Yes, you have to unlock import/export missions to sell cars. To do this you have to complete "customs fast track" mission. Edited February 15, 2006 by Mxyzptlk

Birdcage_999
Yea, but if you past the Burglary missions then go rob houses. It's a fast and easy way of making moola.
AT400
Plenty of ways, when you get to that part of the game, you can do "gang wars". This is where you take up land belonging to the other gangs, apparently, I guess they [people who live in the areas you took over, business owners, etc.] give you money, you can collect it at the Johnsons house. There is also a delivery mission you can do from this supermarket. I think the place is Robi's Supermarket or something like that and There is a bike there (I think), all you have to do is deliver the packages and when your done, you get money (I think this maxs out at $7,000, not sure, long time since I did this.) Killing Drug dealers (don't know if they appear this early in the game) can get you some pretty sweet dough as well (and Ammo, if you really do need it.) Taxi Mission, this one is good way to make money, you have to deliver a person before time maxes out on you, and in the end they pay you, it takes a little practice, but if you can deliver like 100 people to their location I think you get a nice little reward (more money.) Other button triggered Missions: Vigilante and Ambulance (both can be VERY time consuming), Firefighting, put out blazes, Pays off pretty well in the end as well, makes CJ fire proof. As mentioned before, robbing houses works.
NG66
Thanks guys for the info I'm in 'Sweet' mission now, just started it. So i don't know if i'm in the very beginning or not. Are there a lot of missions to do in the game without worrying to be prepared first in getting higher stats or/and money? Or 'Balance' between doing missions, and getting higher stats (including relations) is a good overall strategy? EnGee

EnGee Well mostly you are prepared for each level as it becomes available... but there are some instances when you want extra skills or abilities to help with particularly hard missions: Just Business: hitman skill level for machine pistol Beat the cock: infinite sprint (burglary mission) End of the Line: fireproof (firefighter missions) etc etc A good strategy is to do all the side or mini missions first, to give you more weapons, higher skills, and so on. nada
First thing I do, I run around and get some weapons. Then I tend to travel around Glen Park or the area to the north of that, and look for drug dealers. Get over $20k, and buy the house in Jefferson, then go betting to earn some money. To get around the aurora, simply aim with a gun, and you won't trip it while walking through it.
NG66
Thanks nada, How can i recognize the drug dealers? And if i find them, i kill them? or deal with them? "To get around the aurora, simply aim with a gun, and you won't trip it while walking through it." This I didn't understand, but maybe when i come to this situation i will remember it
Mxyzptlk
Drug dealers stand on the sidewalk instead of walking constantly. One is black with a black tank top, the other is white with a gray hoody. You can't deal, so just kill them and take the cash, they have guns too. I don't know what the aurora thing is about either. NG66
Thanks Mxyzptlk, Finally i won the fighting prize, but it is not enough to buy a house after spending some money on clothes ...etc. Now I have a lot of resources and things to do (thanks for the info you all gave me) to be able to buy some houses in different areas (hope i can save the game in the new houses)
jnsg
To get around the aurora, simply aim with a gun, and you won't trip it while walking through it. Perhaps this is referring to mission markers? For instance, if you wanted to save in the Johnson house before doing the very first mission, you will need to get around the mission corona on the stairs. I usually jump the picket fence and climb up over the stair railing.

Here's a composite pic of all the drug dealers made from the Hellfish Cattle Index images. The two on the left are the common LS drug dealers that Mxy described. The biker only shows up in SF (and maybe LV?) if you do the territory glitch; I have no idea if the one on the right is ever actually seen in the game as his model looks a bit weird. dbrown486
Last time I started a new game, I was able to do the burglary missions immediately. This was great because I had over $10,000 before I even started the first mission, not to mention infinite sprint!

shazard
I always just runa and jump over the corona at CJ's front door when I want to save before entering the mission. Much faster. About kiling drug dealers. U should kill them covardly from behind. Just aim at their head and pop and you're can to pick the cash and bullets/gun. If they see u aiming at them they will start shooting at you which is not too nice.
crazyanurag
also, if one's willing to invest a little time at the beginning of the game, doing stoppies/wheelies on bikes for about an hour gives you max bike skill and about $12k, depending upon how good the stunts were. same goes for bicycles, though the skill level builds up faster, and players would rather do the courier mission than try to pull off stunts... «Phobos»
There's alot of wyas to make money in GTA SA like in the sub-mission, Stadium mission or just by killing people and take his money an on missions. It´s simple.
NG66
Thanks guys for the info. Yesterday was disappointing day for gathering some money I wan the fighting competition again thinking to have another $10,000 but was nothing!I tried the hospital missions, but they are tough for me as the time is always finishing before completing them Thanks pdescobar for the picture as I searched in Jeferson area but couldn't make anything just killing some from the 'pink' gang, which is not practical as they don't have a lot of money. I will try again as I know how the drug dealers look like now. About the burglary missions: I thought i can go with this, after a mission with Ryde. I went to the same place that we entered after stealing the crates. But the doors were closed and I couldn't find the car that I must drive before doing the burglary missions. Where can i find this car? I tried also to make some missions from R, BS, and Sweet but they didn't give me any money Just a question: Sweet missions are the main ones in the story while R and BS missions are the mini ones? Or all the three are main ones?

I was highly disappointed when I found out you couldn't earn extra money by winning 8-Track more than once. "Odd-Job" missions where you earn money as you go are good moneymakers though. If I start a new game from scratch, generally the first things I do are burglaries and the bicycle courier mission at the Roboi's 24-7 West of Pershing Square. Not only can you make decent money while completing it, but once you do you get the asset pickup to generate a little more; and it can be redone for extra money too. While Paramedic, Firefighter, and Vigilante may be difficult until you are a bit more experienced, the Taxi and Pimping missions should be easy enough to earn some early cash and they will also help you learn the map layout. Thanks pdescobar for the picture as I searched in Jeferson area but couldn't make anything just killing some from the 'pink' gang, which is not practical as they don't have a lot of money. Where can i find this car? Check out Ozzy's Burglary tutorial for the truck location and good strategy tips. It's one of the featured guides at the top of the page. I tried also to make some missions from R, BS, and Sweet but they didn't give me any money Just a question: Sweet missions are the main ones in the story while R and BS missions are the mini ones? Or all the three are main ones? Those are all part of the storyline. R are missions you get from Ryder and BS are missions you get from Big Smoke; they are just as necessary as Sweet's missions. Generally speaking, storyline missions don't give you much money as a reward, especially the early ones.
NG66
Thanks pdescobar for your comments and explinations. I'll try not to disappoint you in the future I think i have a problem with my mouse controlling the cars. The cursor jump suddenly from place to place (this in normal programs). This means a sudden move to the car that normally crush to another made me loosing time. Maybe I'll just switch to the old good mouse (not optical). Nick000
My top way early in the game was always: ITB, just today I bet $132,000 on the 12/1 horse I won. (because I had started a new game). I just kept betting $5,000 on the long shot at first, than bet the $132,000. It's really not that hard.
NG66
"I's say you really should change car steering to keys" Good point shazard You mean the combination between WASD and the arrow keys? I'll try it tonight. Nick000: Yes I won something about $150 (Don't laugh! it is a lot of money for me now) but then i lost $100 in several tries. I think you can bet on only one horse right? I'll try my luck tonight. Anyway, i read some of Phobos guides which are very nice to know. So, i have very good answers from you all for my 'stupdi' question

I'll try it tonight. Yup, something like that. I like to use arrow keys for steering and accelerating/braking, and q/w for look right/left and left ctrl for fire. I also have a/z keys assigned to.. hmm... those keys you can do a wheelie and stoppie. Pretty handy when driving a car also -I can tilt camera when its hard to see forward on some roads (like in san fierro). My 2 cents
Nick000
NG66: If you're lokking for more money than $150 try this: Buy the save house in Jefferson, save, than go to ITB. Bet on the long shot, if you win go save, if not reload the game. You should have $100,000 in no time To answer your question about which horse, always bet on the longshot. I remember something saying that all the horses have equal odds even though it looks like they don't. Edited February 19, 2006 by Nick000
NG66
shazard: I tried the keys. I got rid from the mouse problems, but I can't drive smoothly. I mean the car or moto is going sharply either to the left or the right (reminded me about my first learning to drive many years ago ). Either I miss something or I got used to the smooth moves by the mouse and I need to get used for the new control. Anyway, I think in some missions I'll need to switch to the keys for precise control. Nick000: I have now two houses I'm doing supermarket missions which are very useful, besides the money, increasing stamina, cycling and reduce fat. It's a big fun also. I couldn't find the burglary car! I went to the place (that first made the mission with Ryder) and at different times, but it isn't there. I forgot where the horse races place is is it in Jeferson area in the north of S house? or in the lush area west of BS house? For the Taxi missions: I stand near the traffic light waiting for a taxi and then just push away the driver and take it? or there is a taxi company i go there and ride a taxi (like in the supermarket)?
