Paco
I need reccomendations. Anything happy, upbeat, and synthy, I want it reccomended. 80's only, cause it doesn't have the same feeling without the nostalgia tickin' my music muscle. Please and thank you. jimmy.
Orchestral Movements in the Dark (OMD) is pretty good, sounds like just what you're looking for. Also, you've most likely heard of New Order and Depeche Mode. Those are the obvious suggestions.
TheSpillCanvas
Erasure, Duran Duran. Echo And The Bunnymen, Joy Division (not to upbeat), INXS, Midnight Oil, A-Ha, Wang Chung (decent but not great), Thomas Dolby, The Smiths, Pet Shop Boys. And more.. Demarest
Play Vice City I'm very fortunate that a local radio station has 80's night every friday and saturday. I'll try and pay better attention for more ideas.

The Smiths aren't synth-pop in the slightest, nor are they really that upbeat. They are worth listening to, though. Listen to the Human League if you want 80's synth pop, they're pretty upbeat. Uhh... Have you listened to... This Charming Man Panic How Soon Is Now? Sheila Take A Bow Still Ill ...lately? Not all their songs are upbeat, but many are. Sure, they have a lot of 'downer' lyrics, but that doesn't make the song downbeat. Listen to the music. It gets you toe-tapping.
