@ tux: If you spawn cars using create_car instead of a generator it will force the engine to make the car exist no matter where you or it is, so if you place one on one side of the map it will still be there while you are on the other, thus requiring more processing. A generator only creates a car when you are near it. create_car is mainly only used in missions and where a car handle is required (generated cars don't have an SCM handle) and they are only used sparingly to reduce processing.

Ok, As you have seen in the Maps thread i've made some progress on MML, Fixing bugs that was pointed out by TUX, before I release this, Could someone upload the lastest SCM with the cords changed for MML.. (Remember I moved it X -600 units)

We do not have any material related to MLL, so you can use the main.scm and american.gxt in my directory on FTP.BTW, somebody should create a clean GXT file which only contains zone names, car names and engine messages(e.g. insert play disc,...)

Hopefully this helps you a bit, if you didn't already know.

For the create_car you could check if you are within a certain distance of the spawning point and only let it spawn then.

Then when you are further away from the car just destroy it.

Doing it this way shouldn't require much more rescources than the parked car (maybe even less if you set the distance rather small)

I know smile.gif But thanks anyways.I think i'll make them with parked car generator because we have many cars there's a limit for creating objects/peds/cars in vice city engine.

Tux, I'm waiting for the scm from you, btw if you plan on adding parked cars to MML, Please dont.. smile.gif, as i've said the island has been moved 2 updates ago (x -600 units, your SCM spawns me in the ocean), So i'm wondering why you didn't pickup on the updates?

 

We moved the island because it was to close to LC, this slowed the game down.

 

Since I get the Scm I can release the new version beta 39v5.

Do we have anything like the Marina Car Park (aka large garage). Not talking about a 40 car garage like the Marina CP was but something like 10 cars. Also do boats save in garages? What I was thinking was creating two large garage buildings on either island, aka the "Highway Department". So you'd have a 10 car garage in either city.

If you're using both cities, why not just use original features, like the Marina Car-Park mod did.

Boats are important vehicles in our mod, so most probably we'll have if we have a boat garage.I think boat parking is not hard, I made one heli-garage for Vice City XXL.We'll just take the coordinates of the range of garage.

 

We need free garage IDs.I think vc has one already, but one more big garage and boat garage means we need to take out two existing ones.

 

Why you need such garages ? Isn't one big garage enough ? In any situation, i need garages on my sol installation to write garage code.Please PM me.

Large garages are not real garages, they don't take up any garage slots as they are completely SCM coded and controlled. Take a look at Patricks code, although you may want to do a new code using the array method I already posted, his code was done before that array method was well known and thus used Bartons. He has been intending to upgrade but hasn't yet (I also got his code and meant to update it, but like him haven't had chance).

3/VC arrays aren't strictly arrays, they're what I posted on the last page to give a load of men the same gun, unless you want to get into my method, which you don't.

I have a question: Does the parked car limit of vc engine(185) mean I can activate(not initialize) 185 parked cars or initialize 185 cars max.?

I made a little loop which checks which phone mission 'One of the player models' has to do. smile.gif Tux, get online, then I can show it to you. I started with Mission 6. (I know, sorry for the inconvenience, but it is one I really want to make)

Seems like almost all of us are off for school.Here's a plan how we can manage to keep up scm developing and not screwing it up:

 

- We'll stop the progress of scm after releasing the public beta, until everybody has time to work on scm.This means no development until summer.

- SCM coders on team who has time can write missions though.They can write up their missions and test them on a stripped scm.(The one included in MB Builder will be fine for that purpose.) They'll keep their work and submit to me when it's the time.I'll announce the time when the progress of scm development is resumed.

 

Can members write their opinions about this application ?

Sorry for the double post.

 

Why does the script spawn a second player, dammit! I make it fade black, then create some cars and actors, but when it fades back, I stand on a different place but another player is on my original spot. He moves when I do. dontgetit.gif Creepy.
