gamerzworld
Bono John Riccitiello A week ago, Take-Two Interactive's share price spiked on rumors that the troubled publisher might be bought out. Though no potential suitors were named at the time, over the weekend, the New York Post ran a report claiming it had identified a possible "would-be" buyer. The Sunday edition of the Post (under "Bono eyes Takes-Two") said Elevation Partners, the Silicon Valley venture-capital fund that includes the U2 lead singer and ex-EA president John Riccitiello on its board, was rumored "to be eyeing" a $1 billion bid for Take-Two. Via Xbox 360 Updates Let the NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'s begin..... At least its not our favorite lawyer with the frizzled hair ( ) whos trying to buy them out. AlianAnt
Son of a bitch. Hopefully Take-Two wont sell. The last thing we need is an ex-EA president running Take-Two. Not to mention Bono. Oh I can see it now. The U2 Tour the World video game. Metal up your ass!

Pyrrhus
Perhaps you should do some research before acting on knee-jerk reactions. Elevation Partners invested in Bioware and Pandemic Studios. Both companies are still being managed by the people who were managing them prior to the investment. I would expect that the same thing would happen if Elevation Partners buy Take-Two Interactive. BTW Take-Two Interactive own more companies than just Rockstar Games, they also own Firaxis, 2K Games, 2K Sports and Global Star Software.
Taxman
AHHH THEY WILL TAXORS OUR GTAS AND CIVS! Heh. That was actually my first reaction...
Tsuroki
New ownership doesn't necessarily mean new management. If I'm looking at acquiring a business through a buyout because I love it so much, I'm not going to go and bastardize it.

Cran.
Calm down kiddies, just because someone is buying Take Two, doesn't mean they're going to radicly change Rockstar, or any of the Sister companies for that matter.

Dup
Technically, Developers are seperate from their Publishers. Take-Two = Publisher. Rockstar = Developer. So, if Rockstar don't see the benefits of publishing new titles under the new take-two, they'll seek a new publisher.

Yes, that usually is the case but as mentioned above Rockstar Games etc. are wholly owned subsidiaries of Take-Two Interactive. So they can't just up and leave to find a new company to publish their games.
poopskin
cheeburger, cheeburger- hmm, think of the outcome. bono: it's for the starvin' children. *feeds GTA-SA to a poor kid* -pepsi,pepsi!
Suction Testicle Man
The GTA franchise isn't going anywhere, but tbh, there are so many publishers I'd rather see Rockstar with than Take-Two. If at first you don't succeed, you fail, and the test will be terminated.
anus
If Take Two sells I'm pretty sure Rockstar won't stay with them. Because they know what happens if EA even touches a company. EA probably want to own Take-Two to own Rockstar to get money from them as well.

Ray1
First, I don't see how they could be doing poorly, but if they are, then it would be better for SOMEONE to keep them around then to let them go under. This crap happens all the time, though. Every company and corp owns some other, like one big circle-jerk. I think they all sharpen each others' pencils, if you know what I mean. And frankly, I'm sure anyone who posts here would buy R* or take-two or whatever IN A HEARTBEAT if they had the means. At least Bono is showing good taste with his interest. BTW, what ever DID become of Bioware? (BG rules! . . or ruled!, rather) Or Black Isle and Fallout? Or TSR, Fasa, Avalon Hill, ect, ect. They all die or change at some point. Sooo... ...Hate the game, not the playa. OR the publisher. Word, yo. However, It IS OK to hate the developers... when you find very stupid bugs/rules. As the very wise Robert Plant once said, "the singers change, but the song remains the Game." Or as Shakespeare put it, "All the world's a Game, and all the people, mearly Players." Would it kill you to read before posting? I read the topic. I just made a f*cking mistake, everyone makes mistakes. I also thought of this idea, what if Rockstar becomes a publisher? That would be much easier for them and they won't have to worry about getting bought out. EA don't use publishers now (AFAIK), so Rockstar could do the same.
