Dirt Track is extremely difficult

I'm currently trying to do Dirt track, which will complete all the stadium missions, but for some reason it came as a shock that this is probably the hardest one of the lot. Most faqs put it as easier than 8-track, which is not my experience (although 8-track was challenging)

 

In most races if you can get into first you can pretty much hold the lead, but in this race they drive better than you, and will catch you up. It doesn't help that the merest whisper and they spin you out.

 

Bear in mind I'm no slouch at races, having completed all the race Tournaments in LS and SF and most of them in LV. Anyone got any tips?

You'll notice almost all the racers crash in the same corner every lap, just avoid that tangle and you should be able to make steady progress to the front. Lean forward when you dare, and tap handbrake instead of regular brake on the curves.

Watch out on the 2 sets of jumps other riders will nearly always fall off ... and thats the key even when they are infront of you be sure they will fall/crash out.

 

Try getting used to the track and go round corners without sliding / braking.

I agree that this is pretty tough, probably worse than 8-Track... During this race you can use your submachine gun to kill the other racers and you won't be disqualified, however because of the way they ride you won't be able to follow them well enough to hit the rider with the bullets, so it will take a lot of gunfire to kill each rider as you will have to blow up their bikes.

 

You possibly noticed that there is one jump that causes almost the entire field to fall off their bikes on every lap, this is the best way to overtake them, rather than having to contend with all the riders trying to spin your bike out if you try to overtake them normally.

 

Always move your weight so you land well from the jumps, because your chance of winning probably reduces significantly every time you fall off your bike. I have failed to win while getting a better overall time than I have won with, so what happens during the race can be pretty variable so keep trying and you will eventually win.

Thanks for all the suggestions chaps, I finally did it, Phew! I was getting frustrated earlier because I had completed quite a few races and my hands were aching, this obviously wasn't helping my attempts.

 

For some reason the other racers trying to overtake you get rattled when you start shooting at them. Go figure eh? (and finally how I did it, I managed to hold on to the lead long enough to leave them behind)

 

Another one bites the dust....

now that u've done it. if u ever try doing the 2nd time, try the following.

 

at the corner that they all crashes and fall off their bike, simply run them dead. it's fun. dunno if u'll get disqualify for RPG-ing them though.

I've done that before on that corner, by accident (on purpose) I ran over and killed one of the bikers. I wasn't disqualified but it still listed 12 riders and not 11.

 

Maybe I didn't kill him...

just tried the mission again. just to confirm u CAN RPG all the other bikes without disqualifying from the mission.

funny fact is the bike itself requires 6 rockets to destory, 2 or more rockets to kill the biker. 6 wth
