Interesting, so in theory you could make a map outside the game boundries....wounder how the game would handle that.

@Andy: it's a memory patcher? i think isn't an exe patcher like as VC because SA exe is packed

I have done some searching on this and Found a full mod called copland. they have some kind of game accelerator that comes with the mod. I haven't tested it yet because it is not in english, but supposedly it helps. Also I have been seeing people having problems getting into the .exe file to get to the streaming memory, because of some new code they put in on the patch. The good news is I think it is possible to edit the unpatched version because I have a no cd fix for it. (I only did this to save my CD from Scratching). Anyway if it is possible to fix the unpatched version I am assuming you would all have better luck working with that. I personally have no errors on the unpatched game. The main reason I got the game to begin with is to change stuff arround like in Vice city. I hope maybe this helps.

Man, this sounds cool. If all these hacking becomes a sucess to adding more id's I really hope LVS will consider getting back to work. Or Hopefully Mc-Kay makes SOL for the San Andreas Engine.

Yeah I hope someone does something cause I already have the entire game changed. If only I could have the memory fixed so I wouldn't run into invisible buildings. I found some bad news. this guy at this site >

was the one who made the original VC Limit Adjuster. here is what he say's about it.

The day has finally come, GTA: San Andreas for PC has been released in the US today.

I didn't have the possibility to check any of the file formats yet, but I got one bad news already: The exe is encrypted and protected with Securom 7, that means there won't be new versions of Menu Editor, Limit Adjuster and similar tools for SA, since they change the exe file directly, what isn't possible anymore. However, I think it's still possible by memory editing at runtime, we'll see...

I suppose we are SOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, it basicaly means we are screwed unless someone is Genius enough to figure it out. Anything is possible it just doesn't look very probable. I would mess with it myself but I have no Idea where to begin editing those type of files. I know there are some looking for it in the collision file but that isn't adding memory it is just removing stuff to lighten the load. I could do without the crash effects though as long as I could use all the cars I want.

What I say here is me speaking my mind, I am not pointing the blame at anyone, nor do I want to start a flinging match with anyone through what I am about to say.

This is a valid point; coming from a coder in the gaming industry and someone who chooses to spend their free time modding.

I was one of those waiting for SA to be released onto the PC and I know I wasn't the only one here, this is because I wanted to transfer State of Liberty into SA, I had a hack in progress for SA that would have opened it up just like the one i'm now using for SOL.

The saying, sh*t happens comes to mind; - I might have been able to have released the hack, but legal agreements soon changed after the release of the Hot Coffee mod, The mod at unlocked disabled code that was sensered out during SA testing and preview stage.

Before I started SOL I got permission, but only for the VC engine, I couldn't get anything out of Rockstar after the TC issue, I can see R* side very well because they lost millions, It's seen as a careless act by the modding community, that has now effected us all as Rockstar* will not release anymore games for the PC, plus PS2 formats have been changed also.

I can see the modding communities point of view as well, that the code shouldn't have been in the game in the first place, but was it worth unlocking the code really?, just to say; Hey you guys at R* leave this in.

It was all bad timing really as 2 years ago, I don't think anyone would have kicked up such a stink, but these people are all on the bandwagon about how video games make their kids do bad things, but in fact kids do less crime because their off the streets, and these kids who do play games turn out to be smarter, some mod and some continue on to be able work for the gaming industry.

I could go on and on but the way I see SA now, it's no longer worth modding anymore, I might aswell just stick to improving the VC engine, as I dont see it worth my time releasing a mod only 30% of gta fans will beable to play.

I suppose we are SOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In this context, he means "S O L", which besides being a gta mod, is also slang for "Sh*t Out Of Luck".

Do a search on the net, your now find content from Rockstar about this.

there isn't anything on the net, from R*, that says there will not be a GTA4 on PC. At best there are educated guesses, and at worst there are rumours made up by 13-year olds with nothing to do. Until R* says something about it, its all just speculation.

Daxx, GTA4?, I am saying that all future games from R* will not be released for the PC (Nevermind GTA4).

I stumbled across this information 6 weeks ago, looking up 'hot coffee court settlement' on google, I've also found statements on gamespy and gamespot about this, so what is the problem?, I guess in the long run we will find out wont we.

So tell me whats this about a 13 year old?

I single out gta, because this is a gta-based forum (we don't necessarily care about other R*-published titles besides gta). I'm not saying there's any problem, i'm just saying i've read as many docs (from gamespot, and gamespy) on R*/Take 2 as anyone else on these boards, without ever having come across a single one even implying that R* can no longer relase PC games. You provide no actual proof, and you tell people to, and i quote;

...search for themselves. If your going to claim R* will never release another PC game, i think the least you can do is provide your source of info. Claiming something like this without citing an exact source or providng any proof, is exactly how rumours get started. The phrase "put up or shut up" come to mind.

So Basically it is possible to edit it. You are only lacking Rockstars permission? Can't someone just edit it and throw it on a torrent search under a Miscellaneous author. Obviously I wouldn't want to have anyone answer this question, but if I see it on the torrent search I will be leaping with joy.

I don't need too, and I wont after you saying to me; Put or Shut up!.

Life in deniel all you want, I dont really care as I've only stated on here what I beleve to accurate from a site I came across 6 weeks ago!, I should have bookmarked this, but I didn't.

I cant be arssed to search for this site again, but it doesnt stop anyone else on google looking.

I know sites like gamespot and gamespy have PSP related stories also stating this is the way forward for Rockstar but not saying anything about the future of PC based games.

Your not the only GTA fan here btw, I am aswell and proud to be a modder, I would hate to see GTA console only like I first read!, I'm pissed aswell over how Rockstar can just give up on PC based Fans maybe to stuff the modding community.

But right now, I hope I could be wrong, and if I am well I'm wrong, whats the big deal, but we don't really know, unless there is a way we could find out for sure, this is why I posted this on here, not to start a flaming war, but maybe to get to the botten on this.

It's wise to always get their permission (I did with SOL), I say this to anyone using anyone elses created content, I wouldnt just go and hack something and throw it on a torrent, because its illegel.

Edit- Just doing something like that isn't going to help the modding community in how people seem to get modders and hackers mixed up.

Well That settles it then cause rockstar is not going to give anyone permission. Would have been easier to just say its not gonna happen and end the thread.

One of the reasons why I don't mod SA anymore, anyhow it's Andy's thread and his efficks are different to mine, he may have other ideas, but I know his busy with other stuff.

It's unlikely R*/T2 won't release a PC version just because they're afraid of a few "hackers". They'd rather lock, secure and encrypt every single bit, than to loose several million $$. They simply can't afford it.

I know, and what I stated above, I really do hope i'm wrong, but we will see in the coming months.

hypothetically speaking, if one possessed a copy of the gta:sa executable that wasn't protected by securom, how would one go about patching it anyway? could you simply make the changes through a hex editor? (Forgive my ignorance if it offends you)
