Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Clicking Sounds

I hear clicks every time I honk a horn, or accelerate a car. It's as if the sound effects are the cause like they weren't properly cropped. It is from the front left speaker mainly. It is very annoying.

Is there anything I can do to stop this? Is there a filter program I can run in the background while playing San Andreas? Does anyone else experience this click problem?

i have had similar problem before. but it was in VC

in VC i've manually set the game shortcut to be Windows 95 compatible. and with Frame Limiter turned off. (i was using crappy comp back then and this is one of the way to have better frame rate without having the "texture couldn't load up on time" problem). and when i set the game to the Win 95 setting, i constantly heard slight clicking noise like every 2 seconds or so.

I'm beginning to think I'll have to buy a THX-certified digital speaker system in order to totally eliminate noise on the line from my games. I hear a little pop every so often in Call Of Duty 2 as well. I think the conversion from analog to digital makes all the noise.

u should. i am using one of the Logitech's 5.1 THX Certified speakers. it's good quality and it is affordable.

DO NOT buy speakers that has a higher SNR than your speakers, otherwise u'll hear loud pop (and i mean very loud pop) whenever device is being startup/reset. if u can find one that has the same SNR, great. if not, go for one that gives very slightly lower SNR.

I refuse to. I want to fix my clicks.

what's the SNR of your current sound card and your speakers? *check the products' spec sheets*

Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - 108 dB SNR

Creative Inspire P7800 7.1 Speakers - 80 dB SNR

80 SNR. that kinda suck. but it shouldn't caused the problem that i had in mind. are u using the digital output from the sound card? or the 3 cables analog output?

I'm using the 3. I was just wondering if I went and got a digital speaker set, I'd be able to enjoy games with no clicks at all. But that is expensive and excessive. And I don't know if 7.1 even works in digital & for games.

i am using the analog output as well.

here's question for u. so u only hear clicking noise during games?? how about when watching DVD that offers 5.1?

I only get it in games. More so in San Andreas. That is why I chose this board to post to.

i am out of ideas. here's what u should do. contact creative and R* to see if it's a common bug and ask them if there's any solution.

if they says your case is only an isolated case then do the following:

1) if your motherboard comes with a built-in sound card, reboot the comp, go to CMOS, and disable it. run the game and see if it fixes the problem.

2) connect to different set of speakers to see if the clicking noise persist (if problem persist then it's not the speakers' problem)

3) remove your current sound card, install another working sound card and its drivers. and connect the P7800 back. (if problem persist, then it's not the soundcard's problem)

4) if it's not a problem caused by either the sound card or the speakers. replace the motherboard (this is like building a whole new system, pain in the ass) and install your original sound card + speaker back and see if problem persist (some poorly made motherboard doesn't handle noise as well as others)

Unbeleivably, I've done all of these things. My last motherboard was lousy. Thank you for taking the time to write all that though. I have tried listening with my headphones as well, but I hear little clicks in the left speaker.

The problem is limited to all left speakers only. There is a lot of static in them.

kinda missed something

did u plug in the headphone from the headphone jack of the speakers' control panel? or directly from the soundcard? try to plug it directly from the sound card L/R channel output and see if u still get the clicks from the left channel.

PROBLEM SOLVED. I found the solution no more than 25 minutes ago. Here is what I did.

1. Control Panel

2. Sounds and Audio Devices

3. Speaker Settings - Advanced...

4. Performance (Tab)

5. Sample Rate Conversion Quality (Slider) - Improved

I am going to post my solution on the collected audio fixes post now. Very happy that I can enjoy San Andreas again!

The clicking has returned. I cannot determine the cause.

I get the clicking too. And I have Audigy 4 (non-pro) and Creative T5900 5.1 speakers. And in the readme for COD2 it says that it is recommended that you turn off EAX effects because the game has issues with it and it sometimes makes too loud noises that could damage your speakers. WTF

For San Andreas I think its just an issue with the game. Or Creatives drivers. We could try turning off RADIO EQ in options. Ill try that.
