a_fool_from_edinburgh
I was slooking through these pages and couldn't seem to find a Dance music thread. Lots of Rock and Rap but no Dance? I'm sure plenty of folk on these forums listen to dance music or one of its many many sub genres. Personanly I love abit of some hardcore techno/trance. Don't mind a bit of drum n bass as well. some of my fave groups/djs: DJ Tiesto Energy 52 Darude Faithless The Chemical Brothers Daft Punk Mylo The Crystal Method Prodigy Pendulum Andy C I'm not to keen on alot of the new vocal style house music but love alot of the old early 90's stuff, same with trance, love the hard stuff put not to much of the vocal stuff. One thing I really don't go for though is happy hardcore it makes me sad. What do you guys listen to 'dance' music wise? I realise I'm kinda broad with labaeling it all dance but I figured better than making a specific Techno or Drum n Bass thread.

Its best not to be like 'man I only listen to Extreme Hardcore Hevay Metal' and thats it. Anyway how good I fogret to put in Dillinja!?!? Man, sooooo good quite like Benni Benasi as well. Kernkraft 4000 are also pretty sweet. Let us not forget the best ever 'Dance' group, Kraftwerk who practically invented electronic music, pure class. Mullen
Larry Heard AKA Mr. Fingers - one of my favorite house music producers/djs But Moodymann has to be my all time favorite. Well, this isn't the kind of music you'd dance to, but Moodymann can be labeled as deep house nonetheless, without being as boring and generic as almost everybody else in the deep house scene. Check out 'Black Mahogany' and 'Silence in the secret garden'.

Demarest
Now you're speaking my language. I used to only listen to Daft Punk and Lords Of Acid. Then OP turned me on to digitallyimported.com (di.fm). Been listening to mostly Vocal Trance since then. Always had a thing for female vocalists anyways. Also enjoy Drums & Bass. jimmy.
I'm not going to restrict this to dance music, as you can't really dance to it, but we've never really had a decent electronic music thread. I'm largely a downtempo guy, I also listen to a good amount of house and a little D & B, and I just got into some ambient. Going down my playlist: Aphex Twin Blockhead Bonobo Brian Eno ANYTHING on the Ninja Tunes label, especially Mr. Scruff and Coldcut. Crystal Method Daft Punk DJ Food DJ Krush Mark Farina DJ Shadow. Dust Brothers Groove Armada Lazy Dog - one of the best house compilations I've ever heard. Liquid Acid - these sick, trippy chillout sets you can find on Limewire (legally I think) LTJ Bukem - one of my favorite D & B artists Massive Attack Mr. Oizo Mr. Scruff Naked Music - also one of the best house compilations RJD2 Robert Fripp Schmoov St. Germaine Ulrich Schnauss - electronic nu-gazing Vangelis Anyone familiar with Lazy Dog and Naked Music? I will repost the link to this, which is the greatest thing in the world. Wow, I didn't think I'd see a fan of Scooter. I've listened to some of that stuff, and it was terrible. It was this happy hardcore or some sh*t with some Eurotrash guy shouting over it. Maybe I didn't listen to the right stuff, though. EmSixTeen
Meh, looking through my actual playlist.. Aphex Twin and all of his aliases - Plain awesome. 2 Many DJ's/Soulwax - They throw together mixtapes like no other to be honest. Air - Downtempo, laid-back brilliance. Kelly, watch the starrrrrs! Armand van Helden - Love some of his stuff, Hear My Name is one of my favourite tracks, always gets a room dancing. Basement Jaxx - A bit poppy and tacky, but catchy tunes that are dancey nonetheless. Chemical Brothers - '<3' Daft Punk - Heh, brilliant old house. Around the World has one of the best music videos ever. DJ Shadow - Trip-hop master, up at the top of my list. DJ Yoda - Not dance per sé, but he makes quality hip-hop mixtapes with nice humour. Faithless - Some classics, everyone knows them. Fischerspooner - For some reason hardly anybody I know has even heard of them, despite them seemingly being big. Different, but brilliant. Future Sound of London - Papua New Guinea, anybody? The Go! Team - Once again, not quite dance, but dancey. Check out Huddle Formation. Grand Theft Auto 3 - Haha, MSX FM and Rise FM. Grandadbob - Nobody will know them, but they rock. Mmmnn.. *bops* John Digweed - Old rockage and still pumping out choons. LCD Soundsystem - Tribulations is the shiz. Leftfield - lol, no explaination. Lemon Jelly - All the ducks were singing in the water.. Moby - Techno may be over, but Play is a great album, and tracks like Lift Me Up get me dancing. Mr. Scruff - No explaination necessary, funky acid jazz. Mylo - Yay for teh Scot. <3 Orbital - Goes without saying. Pendulum - Nice d'n'b. The Prodigy - Fucking love 'em. RJD2 - I love this man. Sasha - See John Digweed. Renaissance rocks. Tiesto - He can be boring, but tracks like Traffics are admitedly awesome. UNKLE - DJ Shadow and Mr. Lavelle, good stuff. I left out artists where I only have one or two tracks, but it's still a lot. I've got to say, I loathe the likes of happy hardcore, and am certainly not a fan of tacky-ass vocal trance type stuff. *stabs*

I'm largely a downtempo guy, I also listen to a good amount of house and a little D & B, and I just got into some ambient I love loads of downtempo and ambient beats. I agree as well, the Ninja Tune record label rocks, one of the best labels out there. I'm a huge fan of Bonobo, if you like them you should check out Kid Loco, Blue States, Quantic, Tosca, Peace Orchestra i could go on and on. I like lots of the trip-hop, chill out stuff like Massive Attack and Portishead (not to mention DJ Shadow). I also highly recommend Lamb, think kind of Bjork meets drum and bass meets chillout, don't quite know how to describe them. @Demarest, if you like your female vocalists I think you'd love lamb, the singer (Lou Rhodes) has a truly stunning and tottaly unique voice. NismoBNR32
I've been waiting for something like this to popup for ages I knew there was more people here that listen to electro music of all kinds Well, here we go... I started listening to electro music like 4-5 years ago, i started with trance, then moved to techno about two years ago, then about a year ago started to listen drum & bass (I just love it ) , and lately begining to listen house more and more. now about the artists.... while I listened to trance I listened to ATB alot (still do it sometimes, he's my fave trance DJ), then astral projection, Trance Allstars, Members of Mayday, Chemical Bros., Daft Punk, Tiesto (actually he's only song that I really liked was the "traffic") and that's about it with trancers, can't think of any more now. with techno I really liked Umek (Slovenian DJ, great one, some great beats he made, and the parties are always something to remember when he plays music on them), Valentino Kanzyani (pretty much the same opinion about him as about Umek), Steve Rachmad (has this crazy song called "Virton", f*cking love it!), Jooris Voorn (anyone heard the song called "Incident"?), Joel Mull, Carl Cox, .... about drum & bass, like alot of d'n'b artists, only few song from the ones I heard so far that I don't like, some of the DJ's/MC's that I like: Shabba D, DJ Shroombab, Dillinja, Skiba, MC Det, Nicky Blackmarket, DJ Hype, Andy C, DJ Pavv... about house, when I started to listen to it I listened more to that commercial vocal house stuff, now I'm more into underground house stuff, some of the DJ's that I like: Desyn Masiello, Billy Nasty, Frankie Knuckles, DJ Preach, David Morales, Roger Sanchez, Satoshi Tomie... and that's about it from me
