Nemesi
After I deleted some files instead of having the empty bin icon, I had the full bin one. I opened the bin to find which file had not been deleted, but the bin was empty, I didn't see any file at all. So I clicked "Empty recycle bin" and I got the message "Delete "WINDOWS"?". I hit "yes", but I got the error message: Impossible to delete Dd1: Access deniedCheck the disk isn't full or write protected and the file isn't currently in use or something like that, I don't have windows in english language What can I do? My fear is that just yesterday I heard on the news of a bad new virus, that delete files. Anyone can help me? Thanks!
Tryst
The 'Karma Sutra' virus isn't near as bad as it was hyped up to be, most AV vendors have blocked it. And the main way that you can get it is through emails, generaly with porn titles. Discovered January 16, Kama Sutra was designed to destroy common files such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents when each computer's calendar hit February 3. The worm arrived via e-mail, enticing computer users with promises of sexy pictures. The subject lines included "School girl fantasies gone bad," "Hot Movie," "Crazy illegal Sex!" and "Kama Sutra pics." But when users clicked on the attachment, they got an infected machine instead of pornography What files exactly were you deleting? When I did a quick search for a Dd1 file on my computer the only relivant windows component was an auto recover file. Black-hawk
I also had "Windows" magically appearing in the bin for no apparent reason. No idea why. Discovered January 16, Kama Sutra was designed to destroy common files such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents when each computer's calendar hit February 3 That's why all the rad folk use Open Office nowadays. And if you're pennyless, like me.
Nemesi
What files exactly were you deleting? When I did a quick search for a Dd1 file on my computer the only relivant windows component was an auto recover file. A few jpg, and a few mpg (yes they contained nudity, but can't defined as pornographic...). Downloaded with emule, not from e-mails...and haven't received suspicious e-mail. I'm running a tool from Norton for this virus...I'm waiting the response.... Is there a way to find the origin of the WINDOWS file I have in the bin from the moment I don't see it if I open the bin and I can't see the original path? Just to know if it has any relation with the WINDOWS folder or no.... Edit: no [email protected] found...I'm updating the virus definitions and run a scan.... Waste
IIRC, the Dd1 file is just a temp file from the Recycle bin. Could be wrong on that because I usually don't empty my recycle bin much. Restarting always made it stop doing that for me.
Nemesi
Restarting always made it stop doing that for me. You're right... This morning (after I turned the pc on) I didn't find anything in the bin... Wow....
