Variable
First, my system details: Processor: AMD 64 4800+ X2 RAM: 1GB Kingston HyperX (2 512MB DDR466) Video: ATI Radeon X1800XT w/512MB RAM Sound: Creative Labs X-Fi Elite Pro OS: Microsoft Windows XP Pro w/SP2 Now, my problem: I just reinstalled GTA:SA to tide me over until Saint's Row is released. When I play the game, sometimes it plays fine, but after a while the frame rate just goes insane. CJ runs about 30 MPH, but the cars go about 200. At his abandoned airport, it takes about 8 seconds to drive from one end of the runway to the other on a police motorcycle, from a complete stop. Basically, it's almost like it's randomly dropping frames, except they're not dropping, they're just going *really* fast. In-game settings are pretty close to maxed-out at 1920x1440x32, full draw distance, very high texture quality (IIRC), anti-aliasing set to 3, and frame limiter on. It doesn't matter what the settings are, it still plays way too fast. Drivers are all updated, and so is Windows. GTA is completely stock, except for a save game that I downloaded a while back (doesn't matter, as it plays the same with a new game). Finally, when I reboot, the game plays fine for a short while, then starts acting up again. Thanks...

Mxyzptlk
The problem is the dual processors. I think you can disable one in your ctrl+alt+del task manager.... I'll search the forum for better instructions and edit this post. You need to change the process affinity (Goto Task Manager and right click the GTA_SA.exe process and choose 'Set Affinity...') and make it use 1 core. It doesn't matter which one just untick one and the game will run perfectly fine, Its a pain having to do as they should release a patch for this but I use the Disc checking to do it so its no bother for me really.
