So if i were to re-install BF2, would you guys play with me... hard?

 

And this SA-MP, what is it, and how does it work?

SA-MP = San Andreas Multiplayer. You need SA v1 (although there are means of getting it on V2 ) and you need to download SAMP. Blahblah, you can mess around doing GTAish things, shooting each other, racing, stunting etc.

SA:MP is a little boring after a while to be honest, there's only so much you can do. I'd still rather play BF2 with everybody than SA:MP, but that's just me.

I am currently addicted to playing on Infantry only on the Warlord map. Still trying to get my Sniper Accuracy rating up.

Alright so maybe you guys can help me with something. How exactly do "Global Points" work? Like, if I'm in a tank or helicopter or something and it says "Driver kill assist", do I get points for that? Basically, what's all included in global points, and how much do I get for each thing (i.e. more for a flag cap/defend or anything). There's probably a table out there somewhere or something so if one of you nice people could point me in that direction it would be much appreciated.

Damn, updated version of BF2 and now it wont run

 

I start it up, screen goes black for about 10 seconds then it goes back to Desktop.

Had a similar problem when my GFX card wasn't one of the specified cards. Had to tweak it and get a few GFX programs from the manufacturers site to get it to work.

 

Try updating some of the GFX stuff. If that doesn't work than I guess re-install and re-patch to the one before that one that you have now and check if that works.

Yeah, read plattys link. More or less everyting that you do gives you points, kills +2, assists +1. Flag cap = When it is neutral +2 and when you cap it fully +2 again.

 

Nice one barguast, would love to be good at sniper.

Well I downloaded the 2142 demo to see if it's as bad as I imagine it is, and it's lived up to expectations already!

 

Tried to start it and I got an error about it not been able to find d3dx9_29.dll I love this game.

Heh, I had that with Hitman: Blood Money as well. Just Google it and download the file, although I'm sure you've already done that.

To be fair to 2142, I've had a lot more fun in the couple of hours I've played the demo than the 180 odd spent playing BF2. So much fun assaulting the enemy Titan and then pissbolting for the way out when she's about to blow.

I know a guy wholast week created a BF2142 hacks site. He created down to personal frustration. He loves the game but got fed up with the bullsh*t that comes with it. Obviously I won't point you at it so please don't ask.

It pains me to hear this said, for the beginner of this great debacle, and the shining light in the series, Battlefield 1942 lives on. Better gameplay, less bugs, great mods. What more could you need.

 

But there is always Forgotten Hope 2, and if it's anywhere near as good as the first, then I'll feel justified in not selling my copy of BF2.

As long as you end up on a server with no dicks, and some decent squads, then you're bound to have a good game. I still like BF2, it's just finding time to play it inbetween the greatness that is Rainbow Six Vegas.

I've been poking an idea around in my head, and with a 300 page topic + slow forum, i'm not searching so i'll just spit it out:

BF2:LC (Liberty City) ? Essentially either part, or all of the LC map, in BF2 as it's own mod.

i've got the technical skill and interest to pull this off, but not by myself, and not just for myself. if anyone is interested, lemme know (pm/email/other) and maybe we can arrange something.

oh, i didn't know about this. however, i think our goals are different; it looks like his map will remind you of LC, wheras my goal is essentially to recreate it, only in the BF2 engine.

 

btw, this is a 3dsmax render!
