I just got the BF2142 Demo

 

and..

 

 

IT CRASHES.

 

sigh.

 

why? I cant play for more than a minute and it crashes back to the desktop, I have all the latest drivers etc. anyone else have this problem??

 

I have a decent machine as well, which played BF2 fine. 1gb ram, NVIdia 6600 256mb, 1.6Ghz processor..

Make sure your directx is updated and also disable voip in the audio options. Fixed it for me and lots of others. I love 2142

It'll probably take me a few weeks, but it'd be nice to finally have all of the unlocks available. That said I've been playing Special Forces pretty much exclusively for the last couple of weeks so I can get at the Engineer SMG (or whatever it is) anyway!

Cool. I mininmized BF2 and went back into it and this happened :

 

 

No radar, HUD or anything

 

Also, my screen shots are either small like this one or blurry and big. Wtf?

Heh, you've had quite a few problems with your new GFX card haven't you? Maybe because it's ATI, and BF2 is made for nVidia cards? I dunno mate.

I'm thinking of getting a new PC for Christmas, i obviously wanna play BF2 on it so its needs the Spec. needed to play, anyone got any suggestions for cheap PC's which can handle BF2 it would be appreciated

Well, Wal-Mart's E-machines have 3.3ghz processors with ATI Readeon 200 FX cards now. With that you could more than easily run Battlefield 2 on Medium settings. They cost about 500 bucks plus now you can buy them with flat monitors.

 

San Andreas Nut, your system crashes during playing is more than likly because your processor speed isn't even meeting basic system requirements. You have a 1.6ghz and you should have at least 1.8ghz. Thats about the only thing I can think of.

From what I can gather it's to fix a problem with the 'Server side' of the game aka 'Server side bug', so why we have to download a 536Mb file to sort that eff-only-knows, instead of a... ooo small couple of Meg incremental patch, or would that make sense, EA

 

For that they could have at least 'unlocked' a couple of the Internet Only maps for Single Player

Would there be any problems with installing this mod for the game. I guess it means that I wouldn't be able to use that version of the game to play normal online but for the unranked server you guys might be getting, would it work?

 

I was wanting to try it out but I'm not sure if it'd be worth installing another copy of BF2 and modding that version.

Although I usually don't like to quote myself I didn't really get any response. We sorta moved onto a next page quickly.

thanks, I just disabled VOIP and its working

 

after playing the demo for about 1/2 an hour, Im not convinced its really that great a game. although the map in the demo, doesnt appeal to me, the other maps look a lot cooler.

Was laying around with the L96A1 picking off some marines yesterday when i started thinking about what i missed in the game. I was lying inbetween the four silos at Dalian plant when i ran out of ammo. I could just jump off and get ammo, but then i'd have to go all the way up to the airfield to get a new chopper in order to get back up to my spot.

 

Then i started thinking "if i could choose, what would i put in the game"

 

This would be my list:

 

More ammo for snipers

Silencer ability for the sniper rifles

More realistic sound on the M95 like

Setting off claymores by shooting them

More boats and aircraft to choose from

 

If given the opportunity, what would YOU add to the game?

With any luck I will have a new PC for Christmas, its a Dell and it comes with a nVidia GeForce 6150 LE graphics card, I was wondering if it will support BF2 and possibly 2142 at a later date. In the BF2 manual it doesn't have it but I thought I'd check.

Don't think that's going to be good enough mate, sorry, it's not really a gaming GFX card. Once you've bought the PC you can always upgrade it afterwards with a better GFX card.

OK, cheers man. I'll change the GFX card in it to a ATI Radeon X1300, It isn't in the manual either but the highest it goes to in it is a X850. I'm assuming they havnt updated it since the game came out so once again anyone know if BF2 will run with it?

 

EDIT:-

 

I checked TotalBF2.com's list of supported GFX cards and it says ATI Radeon 1k Series so it should work with a 1300

In some aspects but not all. The graphics aren't really all that compared to GoW but I won't forget my first time ziplining into a casino from the roof behind 2 enemies.

you just disabled onboard gfx's in bios then put ya new one in .....life is so simple at times
