I just experienced my first half hour round as Commander, and it was really fun. I didn't do much hand-to-hand combat killing, but I got loads from Artillery and all that Commander duty stuff.

 

Anyway, I ended up with a lovely 163 Global Points! I know thats not a lot for people like Daz, but thats my highest so far by nearly double.

 

Ash and Dup were on the team as well, it was nice watching them in the Commander radar.

I've had a pretty good BF night:

 

First I got the Veteran Resupply Badge, followed by the Veteran Support Combat Badge:

 

Then we had a pretty nice round on wake, as a gunner in the attack-heli:

 

...after that we played some SF, I haven't played that for ages, it seems. Got both the Spec-Ops and Assault Veteran badges:

lol, On Karki I was getting pissed from someone on the enemy side blowing me up with c4. (c4 on spawn est.)

So I went Jihad style at the end, I kept bumping into you on my Jihad travels lol.

Came and played my first proper night tonight.. Good craic actually, if it wasn't for the constant lagginess. I thought it was my PC, so toned it down to 800x600, but it's just as bad. My PC runs Source at maximum detail and CoD2 at quite a high spec, but this was just.. wtf. My ping was in the 30s, but I kept getting 'Your connection has been..' crap.

Anyway, damn squad leaders who give orders for something, then leads the whole squad expect for me to the other side of the map, thus having me almost capture a point which would have given us tank support but my lack of any sort of backup and lag means I only needed to kill waste but he killed me making Trows a sad boy.

@ Platinum: Wait till euro force and unlock the L96A1 sniper rifle. M95 sucks only thing that makes it better than the M24 is it shoots through glass. I prefer the semi auto snipers any day, at least for normal mid - long range shots, its so much easier.

 

@MmMs: the M11-87 is the best shotgun evar, you can rape with it if you just try. S12K sucks which is basically a 7 shot DAO and the jackhammer is even sh*tter. MP7 owns, and is as good as a G36C for range in semi auto, but not as effective as the M11-87 upclose. One shot kills almost every time.

 

But do what you want, not my fault if you miss out on awesome guns. More whoring for me.

My 3 highest point rounds were with the Jackhammer! Bitch, I shot down 3 helos that day! YOu remember, right? All the shotty bullets then finish them off with the pistol?!?

Played on a 64 person server all night. Twas fun. Also got my best ratings on a map of that size. Keep in mind, I never used any vehicles, and the guy who beat me for 1st with 64 points used a tank the entire time. Only like 5 Death too.

I discovered a love for the G36E the other night.

 

It was on Ghost Town, at the flag to the bottom left of the main battlefield. I was medic on the SAS side. I run up these stairs, and turned around to see a few guys coming at me.

I went prone and started shooting, racked up 4 kills with one clip, then reloaded in time to catch 1 last one coming around the corner.

Community Update - 1/31/06

 

Hello everyone,

 

As I pretty much expected, there is some last minute news to pass along. There’s some good and some not so good news but, hopefully, the good outweighs the not so good.

 

First, I’ll start with the bad news to get it out of the way. We have held onto the 1.2 patch a little longer than we had initially planned. We really felt that it was important to delay the patch and take care of some of the issues that have had the community concerned. This means that it will be released sometime in the next two or three weeks. This, unfortunately, means that the Euro Force Booster Pack will be delayed as well since it relies on the patch. Look for Euro Force to be released in the latter half of February now.

 

Also, another bit of bad news is that the new feature that allows player to pick up deployed mines with the G key is being held back. In the end, we felt it just wasn’t complete enough for public consumption. We at DICE apologize to all of you who were eagerly awaiting this feature.

 

I hope that the reasons for the delays are seen as positive by you, the community, and therefore I list these reasons as the good news portion of this update.

 

The following issues were addressed:

 

    * Being able to pass through walls using a spinning tank turret has been fixed. It has also been addressed on all rotating vehicle positions just to be safe.

    * The disappearance of tank projectiles and grenade launcher projectiles during online play has been improved and should occur less frequently.

    * The distance for throwing hand grenades, ammo packs, and health packs has been increased.

 

And finally…

 

    * The Red/Blue nametag bug has been addressed

 

Regarding the last point, what we have done is make the code more secure to try and prevent any cases where this bug may occur. Since the fix has been in place, we have had no reproduction of the bug in testing.

 

We’re excited about being able to release 1.2 very soon and hope you all are too.

On a more pressing note, I've tried playing BF2 3 times this morning. The first 2 it froze and the 3rd restarted my comp.

Yeah, Im learning the commander role at the moment, not as easy as it looks when your team keep running into the shells!

Really makes it hard when members dont squad up aswell, you need the squads to give the orders to.

The flag gets taken, you need to get out of there while I hit it with shells and stuff, simple yeah?

I've tried that too, it's like they can't read or something. I mean, how much common sense does it take to not get blown up when you know there's about to be an arty strike right over your head?

 

the squad thing is a bitch too, no one ever squads up proper, if at all. I've seen so many one man squads it's rediculous.

Pretty much you shouldnt be in a squad if you aint gunna follow orders.

 

But it sucks at times when you have a c*nt commander, like on daqing on our server, and I got alf to kick him, he just kept saying hit this position and do all this sh*t and when i said no can do he got all pissed off and dissed my squad, too bad I was flying a bomber. And it pisses me the f*ck off when I JUST kill some dudes then am trying to take the flag and the Tw*t commander puts arty on my head. Wtf is arty doing in city maps anyway?

 

Anyway, If you join a squad you should give up your freedom to run around and take whatever flag you want and just follow the leader unless he sucks.

 

If there was a way I could make my name green in the corner when I do things I wouldnt join squads. Just that I got used to having my name green, it looks sh*t blue.

Just had a quick go on the server - the first time I've played in months (I've still got it ) - and I was happy to see that the pings are good and it was quite full. Nice work on getting it up and running.
