SeaNorris.
1.) Make sure that in ZMod (I'm not so sure about max) that you go to materials editor, then look where your body texture is, click the name so you can edit it, so if it was: Firebirdbody Before, it now becomes: Firebirdbody [prim] 2.) These are controlled by dummys.
arillious
the way i have the textures set up ios that for my body only (the car paint no the interior or anything else) i have that as primary color. im using kams max script tool. so i have materilas on other parts of the car like the wheels which have primary and secondary colors how exactly do i use that stuff? i guess this is my real question. also what do you mean they are controlled by dummys? do i make the part and then just exort it if so, export it to what? plus i just realized that this is mainly a texturing and materials type of thing so can this be moved to that section? thanks Edited January 9, 2006 by arillious

DexX
this question has been persistent, since gta3 in 2002, and the method hasn't changed since then. So either people, not just you, are blatantly ignoring existing documention, which i suspect is the case, or they're just too stupid to bother looking it up. both are strong contenders. sadly im not in the habit of helping ethe lazy or stupid. set your primary material color to RGB 60,255,0. materials with this colour are identified by, and used by the game as the "primary" colour material. Yes, its green in the material editor - it wont be ingame. If your using Kam's tools, including his gta material, select "Primary" from the dropdown list in his material, and it sets this for you automatically. Leave the "primary" (body from the sound of it) texture grey-white.
