Dodgy disc or aps2 that needs a clean?

my gta sa is totally out for the count as soon as it goes tthrough the cut scene in the house, where carl nearly gets beat up by big smoke they get into the car and that sound keeps repeating, the one where u tune in the rafdio and if you click x it gets stuck in a black screen, the disc aint in that bad condition so i fear my laser may need a clean, any ideas??
