timdude12
Windows xp pro sp2 NVIDIA GeForce Go 6200 128MB Intel Pentium M Processor 1.73GHz 512MB RAM Hi, i finally bought SanAn yesterday and installed it, everything seemed to go ok. When i started the game, it got to the screen saying Grand theft auto (eg. with the pictures), then the screen blinked , carried on with the loading sequence for a few seconds then goes to the desktop. I can click back onto the game from the taskbar after it has gone to the desktop, but i get to "New game" and the screen saying the place and date and it freezes. In the error report it lists the file "C:\Documents and Settings\The user\Local Settings\Temp\fa04_appcompat.txt" Please help me, and if you need any more info to help, just ask and i will put it up. Thanks a lot on advance Tim
ArturP
Open fa04_appcompat.txt file and read it. There you should find better info about the problem.
timdude12
Open fa04_appcompat.txt file and read it. There you should find better info about the problem. thanks for your reply, but now i think that was the error report file, as its gone, and i loaded the game again, got the error report, it listed a different file, found that file, sent the report, and now that file has gone too. timdude12
It gets stranger......i installed it on another pc i have, but that is about 3 years old, and it works perfectly on that one. still no luck on this (one year old) computer though. What computer/specs do you have ---we might be able to see what we have that is the same to try and solve it.
B.u.l.l.e.t
Hy fellas, I also randomly get that random blue screen and hav 2 restart, i find that it's related to certain missions and buildings, and by quickly skipping cutscenes i was able to finish the game pretty hassle free
sugar_rushed
i have the same error, but what is worse the game has been running error free for about 6 months,(last error was the realtek sound thing), i get the error report at half way through loading or starting a new game. i had been modding many cars no scm mods just cars, but had not made any recent changes at the time of it stoping, the most recent mod was the 4door newyorker 3 days befor it stopped working, and there was no driver updates done in this timeframe. i replaced all files with my back-ups, killed .set, and still no luck. P.S. a friend has the exact same problem as me, but he's never modded his copy. any help would be greatly appreciated. thankyou.
Plaka
fa04_appcompat.txt = Application Compatability Hardware / Software conflict maybe? Also check the version of DirectX it MUST be 9.0c, its also on the DVD for you to install.
timdude12
this is just an idea of mine (ie. probably not right) my laptop is a sony and splits up the HDD into a 10GB (c:) and a 70GB (d:) i installed the game on the D drive (no room left on the C) but the GTa user files are on the C might this be the cause????? GTA3Freak-2001
Could be possible I'd say, although I've had SA installed on my secondary drive while the save games etc are on C. If you can free some space and install it on the main drive and see if that works.
